Dhruv -- david also says it isn't working ..

I wonder why it refuses to load for some. I suppose the authentication box is not coming up for them?

Hmm what browsers guys (IE version)? What OS ? and most importantly what error messages? What shows up on the screen? Is the screen black/white or grey?

I need more help than Doesn't work to fix the problem. I need to know what doesn't work and where to start looking. Don't mean to sound unhelpful but unless I have something to go on I can't fix it.

EDIT: Could a bunch of you please test it and let me know if it works or not. I'd like to narrow down why it doesn't work for some.

Do you all have Java applets enabled on your computers. If not it won't work. Sounds stupid and all machines nowadays should have it but just to make sure. A page where you can check is http://www.bodo.com/javame.htm if not you need to get Java on your machine. Go to http://www.java.com to download and install the latest version.

im going beddy now--lol----but ill test it out tomorrow......yea i suppose it could be aol.......ill test it out on internet explorer.......but should i test out the old chatroom or the new one? dammit..i just realized the davis cup starts on friday..........day 1 should be done by the morning?

AOL browser *yuck*
Lynx or other text-only browser *sorry I really don't know how to get it to work on that*

I can't see chat as of now, BTW, I have sify iway broadband, with Windows 98, same IE.

Hmm. gvhvhg's problem was AOL brower. It worked fine with IE.

Ok. I'll need a little more info so this is what you should do and this applies to all those who are reporting bugs with the chat.

1. Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp and check which version of Java VM is installed. the output on the screen will look something like this.
Java vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
JRE Version: 1.4.2_03
Operating System: Windows XP
OS version: 5.1
Please post this information along with your bug report.

2. Tell me what the screen/error looks like on your computer. i.e Do you get a grey/gray screen or do you get a screen which shows
*** Looking up irc.dixiesys.net
*** Connecting to 207.44.192.90
*** Connected to irc.dixiesys.net
and then fails with some error such as WSAETIMEOUT or something similar. Could you please post this error message and how the screen looks as well. Ideally if I could get a screenshot that would be wonderful and you can email that to me.[/list:u]
