Santosh Trophy
Congratulations, Goa. Good job Kerala for finishing at least third ... Did not expect a title, as the team seemed to be not the strongest Kerala has had lately. Congratulations to Maharashtra for runner-up finish too.

Santosh Trophy
Anyone following the ongoing Santosh Trophy? I caught the first twenty minutes of West Bengal vs Goa, and oh boy, the football was pretty appalling. While I understand most of the "stars" must be away at the SAFF cup, I was still shocked to see the generally poor standard of play from two of the "heavyweights" of Indian football.
Both defences were pretty shabby, and many a times cracked under pressure. And whenever they got possession of the ball, they just seemed happy to blast the ball away aimlessly instead of pushing it forward to set up an attack. The midfielders were even worse, they didn't know what to do with the ball when they had it. They either just tried putting wayward crosses towards the box hoping someone gets onto the end of it, or held on to the ball way too long, ending up just giving the ball away to the defence cheaply. And the forwards for the most part failed to generate any real threatening attempts on goal, and fluffed a few easy ones.
What stood out most was the lack of creativity from the midfield. They fail to see the wide open striker until its too late, are reluctant to take on defenders and don't seem to be comfortable on the ball.

Re: Santosh Trophy
Yeah, it was a big bummer that my team Kerala didn't make quarters. A real rarity, and a pity. Jay

After being goalless for 120 min, Goa lifted the trophy via tie-breaker where their goalie Felix saved two shots.
