Anirban wins 4 UP with 2 to play.
He had a round of -7 after 16 holes with no bogey - one of the best rounds so far today... :notworthy:
Next he plays Justin Rose tomorrow, who lost today...so Anirban should fancy his chances.
:goodluck: Anirban

Yes, fantastic round of golf for Anirban......

But, I didn't understand how they decided the round mid-way through the 16th hole....

As he was 3 up after 15 holes, with 3 holes left to play, Ryan Palmer had to win the 16th.
However, he managed only a par and Anirban had a 7 footer for birdie and hence Ryan conceded the hole and the match....

Huh, thanks! I was under the impression that the scoring was based on strokes difference. Didn't realize that it was the holes won....... Makes sense.....

Great win over Ryan Palmer who has been around for a while. Ryan Palmer is one player who I follow now and then as coincidentally, we graduated together from A&M University in 2000. Who knew at that time that he will go on to win multiple tournaments in PGA tour. He became professional right after graduation and has been doing good in PGA tour.

In the second match today, Anirban was unlucky to lose to world no. 6 Justin Rose at the 19th hole (first extra hole).
Anirban played solid and was unlucky not to win in regulation play, as he never trailed throughout the match and had his noses ahead all through. However,Rose drew level with birdie on 18th and birdied the 19th to win. :damn:
Hope Anirban wins tomorrow against Leisman and Rose loses to qualify. If Rose and Lahiri win, there will be a 3 way play off.... :goodluck: Anirban

Anirban had no business losing that match to Justin Rose...

Other than missing some birdie putts in regulation play...
On the play-off hole, after the 2nd shot he was on the fairway 58 ft from the hole, while Rose was 57 ft away but in the bunker...
What does Anirban do?
He manages to get only 28 ft closer from the fairway, while Rose makes a fantastic 60 ft chip from the bunker... I am not entirely sure if the ball rolled back or something like that (no video for this hole), but from ball-by-ball details, it felt lame.....
On the 4th shot, Anirban couldn't make the 30 ft putt and game over..... :damn:

So near yet so far for Anirban as he lost another close match.
He had a short birdie putt on 18, to take the match to extra holes but missed.
It could have been so easily 3-0 but instead ends up with 1-2 and finished 3rd in the group....
Good learning curve but he looks like he is getting to grips with PGA courses.
Hope he does well at next weeks TPC event, in which all top 50 players in the world are playing...C'mon Anirban, it's time to improve on your ranking, which is stuck at 35.. :goodluck:

Player's Championship 2015 - 5th major

Anirban was in the first group to tee off today and had a chance to be at the leaderboard, but disaster struck as he started with a double bogey on the first hole and he is currently last of the 72 players who have already started, with a score of +6 after 10 holes......
He was +5 after 4 holes with a double bogey and a triple bogey. After that, he had a bogey on the 6th, birdie on the 8th and a bogey on the 9th.
His 4th hole was disaster where he hit water and a bunker for a triple bogey...
Bunker on the 9th hole again and missed a 5 foot putt for a bogey...

It'll be interesting to see if he can make a come back to get to Day 3... :goodluck:

A steadier back 9 so far with par on the first 6 holes and two back-to-back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes...

T61 out of 71 starters...

Missed a long birdie putt on the final hole for par to finish at +4 for the day... T59 out of the 71 starters so far...

Will have to do really well tomorrow to make the cut.... :goodluck:

For the record, Anirban missed the cut, ending up with a 4-over par score at the halfway mark -- with a par 72 in the second round. Mickelson, Spieth and Rose missed the cut too -- if that is any consolation!!

Shiv Kapur grabbed a spot in the US Open for the second year running through the International Sectional Qualifiers at Walton Heath.
Shiv Kapur will join Anirban Lahiri in the second Major of the year at Chambers Bay from June 18 to 21. This will be Shiv’s fourth appearance in a Major and he has come through a qualifier each time.

Disastrous front 9 for Anirban with a double bogey and two bogeys for +4 after 9 holes...
Shiv had 3 bogeys and a birdie on the front 9 to go with 2 bogeys and 2 birdies on the back 9 for +2 after 16 holes...
