Anirban Lahiri - PB WR #33 (28-Mar-15), India #1
Currently, India's #1 at a career best WR#109 and finished 3rd in the season ending tournament in Thailand this week to finish 3rd in the Asian order of merit.
This also seals his place as the only certain Indian entry for the inaugural EurAsia team tournament. I would imagine Jeev has an outside chance of being a captain's pick (jaidee is the Asian captain so might pick his old rival).

Re: Anirban Lahiri
Won his first tournament outside India at the Indonesian Masters by making a 20-foot eagle putt on the last hole
This will take him into the top 75 of the world rankings (and win him $135k); the highest since Jeev was ranked inside the top 50. Well done Anirban!

Re: Anirban Lahiri
Maybe one of the mods can change the title to reflect his current ranking as India's #1 and Asia's #2.

Re: Anirban Lahiri - PB WR #67, India #1, on 28-Apr-14
Anirban Lahiri moved to WR#65 after finishing T6 in The Championship 2014 at Laguna National Golf, Singapore last week. By next week if he can make it in top 60, he'll qualify for US Open. Next week he plays a smaller tournament ICTSI Philippine Open ($300,000) where he need to finish in top 3 to hopefully make it to top 60 based on current World Rankings.

Due to the poor result at Philippine Open, Anirban Lahiri is currently 71 in the World Rankings.

Anirban wins the Malaysian Open in style after shooting 62 and 68 to win by one shot.
What a tremendous come from behind win by the champion.
Moves to his personal best world ranking of around 42...
Secures his European card for next 2 years in just his second start in the European Tour after getting his card.
Top of theOrder of Merit in Asia with a huge win and it will take some time for others to catch him.
Masters Invite coming up
With this ranking, he can get into most majors and WGC events
No need to worry about playing rights in any European Tour events - he can play almost all of them now.....may be some PGA invites coming his way too...

Congratulations, Anirban.
Cam someone educate me as to how the tournament held in Malaysia is part of European tour.
I am a novice as far as the tournament structure in golf is concerned.

Fantastic performance by Anirban Lahiri. He said at the start of the year that he needed to win a title in order to convert his EPGA card (earned through Qualifying school) into invitations to most tournaments -- and he did in style at more or less the very first hurdle!!! Utterly amazing stuff, and a spectacular final round to take the title!

As Ankit has mentioned this was co-sanctioned tournament between European tour and Asian tour ... Tour do these things to popularize tour in other regions. With Malaysian event for three weeks European tour is in Asia... This week another co-sanctioned event in Thailand and next week in India for Indian Open. If I am not mistaken then PGA tour also organize event in Australia and.Japan.sameerph wrote:Cam someone educate me as to how the tournament held in Malaysia is part of European tour.I am a novice as far as the tournament structure in golf is concerned.
