Re: P. V. Sindhu thread - Rio Olympics Silver medal winner
Yep. #2s don't lose in the first round (irrespective of draw).
Small fluctuations are okay as long as she stays consistently top-4 or top-6 say. And, wins some big matches and big tournaments.

Newspaper reports in Singapore have been referring to Sindhi as #5 and Marin as #2. Presumably that's why they met as early as the QF here.

Yes, Sindhu was #2 only for a week after India superseries title. She fell back to #5 after that. I this a fair ranking for her. Currently Marin and the Taiwanese Tai look the top 2 on current form with Sindhu somewhere between 3 and 6.

Agree with sameer.
There is a clear top 2 in Tai-tzu Ying who is a dominant #1 and won her 5th successive tournament in Singapore (she skipped India SS) and Carolina Marin who is the current World and Olympic champion.
Sindhu is in the next group with Sung-ji Hyun, Akane Yamaguchi and Ratchanok Inatchon.

Re: P.V. Sindhu thread. Young badminton sensation!
A blast from the past. So, it was close. Silver.kujo wrote: Fri Sep 14, 2012 8:22 pm thanks for the link. did you see the smash from Sindhu when she was leading 19-16 in the 3rd set?!
Tall, lithe and powerful, she is here to stay and is the single biggest threat to chinese domination in women's badminton; definitely a future WR #1 and dare I say 2016 Olympic GOLD medalist! Just stick with Gopi for the next 4 years and then do whatever you want after that!!

Just watched PV Sindhu play superbly to win the first game 15-11 against Sung-ji Hyun in the PBL. Sindhu is always a treat to watch in action!

Sindhu is seventh in the Forbes list for highest earning female athletes. She is one of two non-tennis players in the top 10. The other one being race car driver Danica Patrick. Serena tops the list.

Re: P. V. Sindhu thread - Rio Olympics Silver medal winner
REALLY??? They say she made $8.5 million. Did they make a mistake? Where does she get all that money from? Not from the badminton tour for sure. Does she make that much from endorsements? Rs. 60 crores? More than Halep and Danica Patrick?suresh wrote: Wed Aug 22, 2018 1:56 pmSindhu is seventh in the Forbes list for highest earning female athletes. Yes, it seems like. From what I gathered from google searches, she does seem to earn 50+ crores a year now. Apparently she is second only to Virat Kohli in endorsements. I didn't know it was that good. Things are changing so much in India in these things.

It is great for Indian sport that middle class parents can see a lucrative future for their kids in non-cricket sports.

I liked hearing that..... Fill up that space!"But Olympics is a completely different feeling. Rio (Games) and World Championship gave me different memories, but, yeah, one gold medal is missing, so definitely I will work hard for that and would love to see myself win that Olympic gold at Tokyo."
"There is a vacant space (laughs) in my cabinet for that gold. The Olympic qualification is on and this win will give me the confidence to go further."

Is Sindhu still in the Forbes top-10 list of top-earning female athletes in the world?
