Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Are they rebuilding by chucking out deadwood and trying juniors, etc.? Then, I am fine. Of course, with covid interruptions, etc., we should cut people some slack.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
We beat China 7-1 in first match of pro league. Not sure if China is playing it's best team but that is a great win. Have not seen us win against China with that kind of scoreline.
Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Yes, excellent result today. We're playing them again tomorrow. Consistency has been our problem for years.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
That is a smashing victory over China! We also beat them 2-0 in the Asian Cup in the match for 3rd place, so we have won 2 in a row against them....

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
And we beat China 2-1 in second match of pro League. Close one this time but still a win. Getting 3 back to back wins against China is good.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Our women came from a goal down to beat higher ranked Spanish team 2-1 for our third straight pro league win. Spain totally dominated the first half but score stayed tied 1-1 and then second half we gave a much better account and went a goal ahead and it stayed that way.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Our women lost 3-4 to Spain in second match today. Last minute goal for Spain there but I think they deserved the win there. I thought they were slightly the better team in both the matches. But, our team is improving at this level.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Back to back matches against Germany happened over the weekend at Bhubaneshwar.1-1 draws in regular time in both the matches. In penalty shoot out Germany won the first match and we won the second. So all even like it was against Spain earlier.
Re: Indian Women's Hockey
This was Germany's U21 team. So not too impressive to draw twice with them.
I watched 1st half of today's game and we displayed all our traits- unforced errors all over the pitch, picking up cards, leave lots of space in midfield and defence, gift away PCs, fail to win any 50/50 loose balls, poor passes and missing chances.
All our teams have regressed since the Olympics. I think Batra will be sacking some of the foreign coaches.

We beat the Dutch 2-1! I think it maybe our first ever win over them. This was an inexperienced Dutch team with only 4 first team players, the rest are newcomers. Even so, any win over the Dutch is most welcome.
We are also trying out new players.

We lost 1-2 to Belgium. I saw parts of the match and from that and from stats it looks like Belgium dominated and we were lucky to lose only by 1 goal margin.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Our women got thrashed 0-5 against Belgium. Probably would have expected similar scoreline yesterday but got lucky. Belgian women seemed to have improved a lot just like their men did few years back.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
We need to win Women nations cup for to qualify for 2023-24 pro league....we are already out of 2022-23 proleague
Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Ouch. That's a bad loss. Belgium are a very good team. They have improved a lot in the past 4-5 years. The key has been their brilliant domestic national league. Something we have no plans to copy.

Re: Indian Women's Hockey
Excellent match by our women against second ranked Argentina drawing 3-3 in regular time and then winning the shootout. Watched the whole match and really liked the quality of play by some of our youngsters. They do have a lot of pace and skill. This performance was way better than the one last week against Belgium.
