Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
During the second leg, Shaw has looked ordinary so far. The problem is with India’s very poor batting depth, players with poor batting average may not be enough.
Mayank Agarwal may be a better choice
I have a feeling that lot of players are going to be injured by the time WC rolls in. Pakistan could be a huge favorite to win it all, becoz they don’t have players in IPL

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
IPL 2021 is itself a small sample size. Slicing and dicing it even further to the last 1-2 games and making decisions on the basis of it is bad logic. If you look at Prithvi's last 10 IPL games, he is doing fine. Yes, I would like runs in the last few games but as they say class is permanent and form is temporary. If you choose (or not choose) on the basis of the last few games, you risk choosing the latest upstart, e.g., Venkatesh Iyer, and forgetting ones who can actually do things over time. Knee-jerk selections are not good.
Mayank is certainly a contender. Anyway, there are several games left. We should see who among Prithvi, Mayank, or anyone else plays better than others and choose judiciously.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
His performance in 2020 IPL in same conditions were ordinary as well. He averaged just 17 runs.
His IPL average of 24 runs over his IPL career is pretty ordinary as well. I understand strike rate is very important, but with our batting lineup where we don’t bat deep ,his average is not enough.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Astonishing thrashing for Mumbai Indians administered by RCB today. Kohli made his second consecutive 50, but isn't yet the dominant batsman he was until 2 years ago. But he had lots of help today, particularly from his bowlers -- Maxwell was brilliant with bat and ball, Harshal Patel got a hat-trick and Yuzvendra Chahal was brilliant again (making a strong claim for a place in the T20I national side).
The players picked for India seem to be collapsing under pressure. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have been in woeful form, and Hardik Pandya made 3 runs but didn't bowl today. MI have sunk to last but one on the IPL table.

Kolkata, Punjab, and MI are all in the same spot, chasing Royals and praying for them to be defeated and join them as the 4 teams vying for the 4th semi spot at the same number of points: 8. So, RR has a tiny lead. Four more games to play for each; RR has 5 more to play.

Their batting line up requires their top order to deliver every time. All it yardages is not the answer.

KKR wins and keeps up with the winner of PK and MI. Dump Eion Morgan though. Warner was removed and SH won. We should do the same. Get the world's best all-rounder in Asia, Shakib into the XI. And, maybe add one more bat.
Pant shows that his slow batting is not a bug but a feature these days.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Seriously, if Sanju can show the level of maturity from the previous two innings it may not be a bad idea to rope in Sampson for Pant.
DC has a very poor batting line up and Pant is not great with field spread out

The bowlers who have bowled at under 25 runs/wicket and 8 runs/over (Indian only) are:
Avesh, Bumrah, Shami, R. Chahar, Arshdeep with DLC coming close.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
I don't know which one is the best thread for this.
It seems Ashwin revolted against Kohli and complained to BCCI after world championship final. This caused him to sit out for rest of the season.

I think Ashwin does not care for unwritten rules in cricket. He has mentioned this previously in his video.
I think , He did this deliberately to bring this to forefront. He does have a valid point. If the overthrow is of the runners bat and reaches boundary, the run is counted, but it is against spirit of game to run.
Spirit of the game is overrated. It is okay for players to intimidate the opposing batsman, intimidate umpires, not walk even when u know are out or appealfor catch when u know that ball may have bounced. All of that is in spirit of the game. But when u break the unwritten rules of game, u are called villain.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
I think lot of youngsters may be getting a short shift this IPL. Since teams can protect only 3 players after this season, some of the teams may be wary about giving youngsters a chance(so that their bidding price do not go way high)

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
That is stupid logic. If a player is good, you use them and win now. If someone pays them a lot of money and you decide they are not as valuable, let them go and choose someone else. We have enough talent.
The IPL needs a minor league.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Priyam Garg looks a complete misfit in T20 cricket. The former under-19 star has a batting average of 58+ in first class cricket, but less than 20 in T20s. It would be best to drop him rather than waste a spot in the SRH middle-order for someone who is uncomfortable in T20s. SRH anyway depends too much on the foreign batsmen -- Roy (or Warner) and Williamson. If they fail, the utter mediocrity of the rest of the batting is quickly exposed.
