19 year old Akshay Bhatia won his first start on the Korn Ferry tour. 3rd youngest player to win on the tour after Jason Day and Sung Jae Im.
Seemingly he had a girl caddy for him who knew nothing about golf a few months ago. Perhaps, an Instagrammable experience for her?

Re: Other Indian Golfers thread
Viraj Madappa is playing the inaugural LIV Golf event in England.
He finished T-30 but picked up a check for $156K. The last placed player in field of 48 picked up $120K.
Apparently, some crazy money is being put out by the Saudi government to sportswash their regime. Several big PGA tour players have received guaranteed signing amounts of $100MM or more. Rumors are that Tiger Woods was offered close to $1 BN which he apparently turned down.

Re: Other Indian Golfers thread
LIV Golf is going to create a big headache for all the current established golf tours.
PGA Tour has already suspended around 17 players for playing this event incl. Dustin Johnson, Mickelson, Oosthuizen, Garcia, Schwartzel, Poulter, Westwood etc.
DeChambeau, Patrick Reed are next to join livgolf.
Prize money is insane. The winner won USD4.75 million in total for a 3 round event this week in London.
Last placed player with a score of 24 over!!! a whopping 31 shots behind the winner still gets $120,000!! Viraj Madappa qualified as he finished top 6 in an Asian Tour event the previous week and pocketed $154,000 with a score of +9, which probably would have been a missed cut and 0 earning in a normal event. Each event has a prize money of $25 million…
The prize money is on top of signing on fees ranging from $200 million for Mickelson, 150 million for Dustin, 135 for DeChambeau…..
Just a comparison- Dustin Johnson has won $75 million career money for a career considered very successful and here he gets signing on fees double his career earnings….
Let’s see where and how this ends.

Re: Other Indian Golfers thread
So, it is an indication of what to come at Asiad right ? Does the field consist of all the best Asian ametuer golfers ? If it so, that is good news. Don't think we have even won a medal in Asiad in womens golf.

Re: Other Indian Golfers thread
The Asiad was an top-amateur event. However, last year Olympic Council of Asia opened doors for the professional golfers in Hangzhou.
Aditi & Tvesa Malik have qualified as top-2 Indian golfers and Avani has qualified through qualifying event.
There is a real chance for a medal this year in women's event.

Oh,ok. Great that Aditi will be there. Hope she makes up for narrowly missing on the olympic medal here. Avani Prashanth looks reallly talented considering she is only 15.

Re: Other Indian Golfers thread
Aditi on current form should be a medal contender at the Asiad. However, with the Koreans, Japanese, Thais etc., women's golf in Asia is quite strong.
This is one sport we could actually invite the Russians and Belorussians.
