PKBasu wrote: Fri Feb 12, 2021 1:18 am Yuki is 11th on the list of alternates for singles at the Singapore ATP. So he will have to play qualifiers (using his protected ranking of 127) -- probably a good way to start his comeback, although ideally he would have played a Futures or Challenger to get into shape for this ATP tournament.
He is not in the qualifying entry list though. No chance of getting in directly into main draw with him being 11 out. I think the only way he can play is to get a wild card in main draw of singles or doubles.

Till I see that Yuki actually got on the court and served the ball, I will not believe that he is playing :) .... My suggestion for us is to not get excited till then.

He can’t pass up this opportunity. I hope he does go there and get a win or 2. Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed that he plays and is competitive. The players that had the 2 week hard lockdown have said that impacted their play negatively. Yuki is coming from a 2 year lockdown, so fully expect that to have an impact...

At this point, I wonder if he even wants to continue his tennis career.

His latest insta post shows he is still training in Delhi. Singapore needs you to quarantine for two weeks. Will he be able to do that and still play?

That cannot be true. A lot of players from Australia will be traveling to Singapore and the tournament starts this coming Monday.

Maybe some leeway for players. My wife wanted to shoot in Singapore. She was told about the two week quarantine rule. Had dropped her plans.

Yes,players playing in this ATP tournament are exempted from that rule However, they cannot go there early and train. So, can go there only 2-3 before the tournament. Apprently, he is going there.

Phew! What a relief. But, why does she not like Singaporeans?

Too finicky they are. They shot all peigons just to keep the city clean. So she thought might as well......

Good one. Not sure about the pigeons, but they certainly shot all the crows in Singapore... :p
