Re: WTT events
19 year old Yashaswini Ghorpade finished as runner up at WTT Feeder series last week. From I gather she is only second Indian to enter final of a WTT Feeder level event after Sreeja Akula.

Re: WTT events
The genes don't matter that much, the system does. The U.S. does not have a system to encourage mass scale engagement in the sport, systematic honing of skills, and promise of a future by playing the game. People who are great in TT are quitting because they see no future in the U.S. wrt earning a living as a professional. So, I am not that hopeful. Asian immigrants have been growing in the U.S. for over 40 years now. It has not moved much.
You can check the numbers here: Demo of Asian Americans Yes, in the last decade we have seen the biggest jump but from the '90s there have been about 5 mill, 6 mill, and 7 mill in each decade. The ones who came in the '90s are now 30 years old and would have emerged if the system was there. China, Malaysia, Indonesia are good because they have the population + the system - the culture of these sports. The U.S. does not. There is practically no support for these sports. There is a lot more of that in France and Germany wrt TT and Denmark wrt badminton than in the U.S. I do not think there will be a huge American renaissance in these sports.

Re: WTT events
Harmeet Desai is the 3rd seed at WTT Feeder Cagliari. He is going through a rough patch but as per the draw, he should find a way to at least reach the semis, as his best result is a QF at WTT Feeder Varazdin

Re: WTT events
Manika lost in straight 3 games against the Chinese. Saw that match. Manika started better in all 3 games and had taken 3-4 points lead but could not sustain it.gunsnroses wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:07 am

Nonetheless, another good performance from Indian table tennis players.
