Real test for Sumit comes next when he plays Gombos. If he can beat him ranked 88, it will speak a lot in favor of him being ready for Top 100. It's time for him to make the move now it only gets harder.

That Gombos again?! Sumit just played that hairy Slovak in Munich last week, and now this week again in Prague. Well, time for revenge. Good win against Stakhovsky, though.

Yes, good win today. But, will he be able to avenge last week's loss to Gombos. He needs to be at the top of his game to do that.

Before last week's loss (on clay) in Munich, Sumit had a 1-1 record against Gombos. Both losses on clay, the only win on hard courts - the exact opposite of what you'd expect. Anyway, time to set the record straight on clay.

From 0-4 down in first set, Sumit won 4 straight games to make it 4-4 but lost next 2 games to lose the first set 4-6.

At Prague ATP 80, Czech Republic (Clay)

[QF] (8) Sumit Nagal (IND,140) l. (1) Norbert Gombos (SVK,89) 46 26

So, Gombos continues his domination over Sumit on clay.

Looking at the statistics it appears serving is still an issue for Sumit.

Oh well... Tough luck with the draw here. That was not an easy opponent.

Yes, serve speed is an issue and I do not know when he can improve on that. Probably a lot of work in off season can improve it a bit. But, I have noticed in recent matches he is begining to put some good direction and angles on his serves which does give him some free points.

But, against players ranked below 100-125 he is able to put that diadvantage of weaker serve behind with superior ground game. He is mostly not able to do that against top 100 players. In this match I thought both Gombos and Sumit having same kind of game with Gombos having more power and accuracy on his strokes. Sumit will have to do something different to beat the likes of Gombos or so the same things better.

Gombos has got Nagal's number. Still a bit disappointing score line.

Not a good day for Nagal AND Nadal (losing in straight sets to Zverev @ the Madrid Masters QF).
