Now they says tests are still inconclusive and they will be done again. The matches are scheduled to start today but now will be delayed a bit they say. Why did they leave it so late for all this?

Indian players are saying they were isolated in Zurich since Swiss open. So, how can they positive

Saina and Kashyap anyway had covid once. It would be a surprise if they test positive again.

Also Prannoy and Sai Praneeth.

I wonder who tested positive. Bad for Srikanth if he did. He is just returning to some form.

As it turns out, everyone tested negative in the repeat test. So, all Indians will be playing. Matches starting in couple of hours time.

This is terrible. Our players have not had any practices or gym work for the past few days. Fitness will take a dip.

Looks like we also scored at least one upset win

#31 Prannoy bear #33 Liew. #28 Laskhya Sen beat #18 Wangcharoen. #27 Sameer Verma beat #52 Coelho. #15 Praneeth beat #49 Popov.

#18 Nehwal retired against #12 Blichfeld while trailing.

Except for Srikanth's disappointing loss, good day yesterday. Mostly tough matches coming up today. Will open a thread for this and update there.

Lot of our players playing in Orleans Master 100 this week in France which counts for olympic qualification.

Srikanth, Saina are thru to round of 16. But, one standout performance by youngster comes from 20 year old Kiran George. 112th ranked Kiran George beat 29th ranked last week's All England semi finalist Mark Caljouw in 3 close games in first round and then beat fellow Indian H.S. Prannoy in second round. He meeets 36th ranked Brice Leverdez in PQF.

It is desperate times for Srikanth and Saina.

Srikanth is 20th and Saina is 22nd in the race to tokyo, and they need to get into the top 16 to qualify. I don't have a lot of faith in their chances unless they win here in a weak field (or at least make the finals).

Sai Praneeth is almost sure of qualification in men's singles. India will have 1 representative in each of the 5 events: Sai, Sindhu, Satwik-Chirag, Ashwini-Sikki and Satwik-Ashwini. No medal prospects.
