Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Pretty small price paid for him. Arjun Tendulkar is a punt, but he has been reported doing some great things in Mumbai club cricket. Seems a reasonably talented all-rounder, but unlikely to play too many matches this season based on his T20 form in the two matches he's played. The MI staff are banking on his potential and work ethic, apparently: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ipl- ... ne-1252248
Frankly, I hope MI waits until Arjun has reached a good skill level before picking him for a match. There will be massive expectation the moment he actually is picked for a game. If he fails, that will be a bigger setback for him. This season, I doubt he will be ready to play an IPL match.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
This is how the teams stack up for IPL 2021:
https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ipl- ... 14-1252215
Pujara getting picked is a new one! CSK paid Rs 50 lakhs for him: he didn't have a contract the last two seasons, IIRC. There's a general lack of wicket-keepers in many of the teams -- while one (Sunrisers Hyderabad) have 3 (Bairstow, Saha, Goswami). Apart from Dhoni, Samson and Rahul are 'keeper-captains; the former has Jos Buttler as alternative 'keeper in his side. Rahul doesn't seem to have any back-up 'keeper in his side.

IPL bubble related issuesHowever the purpose of these managers has come under the scanner now, as it is understood one of them was caught on camera leaving his room while in hard quarantine at one of the team hotels.

Washington looked miserable as a opener yesterday! I do hope that RCB continues the experimentation and we can determine if Washington can pass muster as top order bat in IPL

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Harshal Patel bowled exceptionally well. Maybe the 30 year old has finally arrived. Surya and Kishan batted reasonably for Mumbai. Rohit, Krunal, and Hardik failed. Krunal was slow too.
Kohli scored a slow 33 but those runs were crucial because Bengaluru crumbled too while batting. Bumrah, Krunal, and Sundar bowled well. Siraj was economical but did not get wickets. Chahal was crap and R.Chahar was more crap.

Kohli's dropped catch and that gigantic swelling just under his eyes was the other highlight of the match. He kept on batting freely despite that.

Terrific knock by Prithvi Shaw -- and the rapidity of his scoring got Dhawan going too. Shaw's approach remains a bit risky, in that he hardly defends at all. But when it comes off (like it did yesterday) it's breathtaking to watch -- apart from the couple of chances he gave off Moeen's bowling, which looked very ungainly shots.

This seems to be the IPL season for the domestic stalwarts. Today, it was Nitish Rana's turn to outshine all the stars. He apparently has a sequence of 0,80+,0,80+,0,80. Pretty decent average nonetheless!

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
A quick 0 followed by a quick 80 is priceless. You do not waste balls and when you play you play fast.
Karthik played a great cameo. At the end, that helped KKR win. Prithvi's inning was perhaps the best so far. If he has only one gear, he is the ideal person for the power play. Or maybe bring him in the lower MO. Tripathi hammered a 50 at a very fast rate too. His inning was arguably better than Rana's. Dhawan, Jadeja, Raina, and Kishan played very good innings too.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Impressive knock from Sanju Samson today, but he probably made an error in not taking a single off the penultimate ball. He should have let Morris try hitting a 4 off the final ball, rather than having to hit a six himself.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Two of our iconic stadia are jokes (in my subjective view). Bengaluru and Wankhede. For T20s. I hate seeing small stadia which takes a lot of spinners out of the equation. I know things are a bit more complicated but this is what I think as an approximation.

I was impressed by the new pacer Chetan Sakariya of the RR. Samson should certainly be playing for India in one of the formats or be the next choice after Pant. We have to move past Saha now.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Given that a lot of matches are being held in the bad grounds, a lot of lusty hitting. That is good for us to identify a good set of strikers of the ball as long as we play on such puny grounds and bad pitches at the T20I world cup too. We have had Karthik, Hooda, Parag, Shaw, Samson, Tripathi, Rahul, Dhawan, Jadeja, Raina, Kishan, etc. bat well in this first game. The key now is to be consistent as Samson knows very well from the last time. Let us see who can put their hands up and earn a place in the squad. The good thing is that it will be 22 members strong. So, a lot of fringe players will make it.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Amazing job by the MI spinners today, Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya. I'm surprised that even the likes of Russell and DK had shockingly poor run-rates. (Match fixing??).
