Dabrowski is still ranked 10th in the live WTA Doubles rankings. That is a stunning pair of wins for Sania.
Next up is a semifinal against second-seeded Demi Schuurs and Nicole Melichar, who are respectively 11th and 12th in the doubles live rankings.

Sania-Klepac lost 57 62 5-10 in the SF against the second seeds. Still, great comeback week for Sania.

On to Dubai next week.

Sania/Andreja lost in the last-16 to the 7th seeds 36 36 :-( . That is a pretty bad loss. Sania is already 157 in the live doubles rankings, though, and hence already India #2.

That was rather an odd choice to depend on a wildcard situation with Kim Clijsters when she hasn’t picked up a racquet since the USO first round match last year. There were rumors about her playing with Vesnina. Seems the Russian decided not to come to the US while being a mother of a young child herself.

Anyone have an update as to when Sania will play next. She was supposed to play Miami back in March but her partner was injured. As far as I know, Sania is healthy so was wondering why she hasn't played in over 2 months.

Sania was supposed to play doubles this week with Bethanie Mattek-Sands at Nottingham, but they aren't in the draw. I presume Bethanie wanted to rest after playing the women's doubles final on Sunday at the French Open. They should be playing together next week at Birmingham, and then at Wimbledon.

Sania plays doubles R1 today with Ons Jabeur at the WTA 250 Cincinnati Open. They play by late afternoon, after a singles match for Jabeur and some rest.

[R1] Sania Mirza (IND)/ Ons Jabeur (TUN) vs Veronika Kudermetova (RUS)/ Elena Rybakina (KAZ)

Further Updates from Cincinnati will be in the pre-USO US ATP/WTA thread.

Sania is still struggling with fitness/stamina issues, clearly. Last week and this, she is partnering Shuai Zhang, who won the US Open doubles title (partnering Samantha Stosur, beating Gauff/McNally in the final). Last week, they lost in the QF (after winning a round) to Minnen/Van Uytvank. This week, they struggled to a victory in an STB in R1 at the Ostrava Open. QF against Danilina/Marozava later today. This is the sort of match that Sania would normally win with ease, but she is still a bit low on confidence and match fitness (quite different from her dramatic return to the circuit in Jan 2020, with a title win at Hobart).

But that R1 win at Ostrava takes Sania back into the top-100 of the live WTA doubles rankings -- to 99 (and hence India #1), just ahead of Ankita Raina (who hasn't played the last few weeks, and is now ranked 101).
