Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
Mukund is playing in a $15K ITF event this week in Egypt. He’s the top seed in the singles draw and starts against a qualifier in the opening round.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
I hope he gets back to some form... Just not a great start. I don't want to start calling him Sasi again

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
There was a huge contingent of Indians in this tournament, several of whom (Niki Poonacha, Nitin Sinha among others) played the qualifiers. None made the final round of qualifying. Everybody seems rusty. Hopefully, they will do better next week.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
In fact Manish Sureshkumar , Sid Rawat , Nitin Kumar Sinha etc, have been playing there for last 3 weeks but just could not post too may wins at all, none going beyond first round of main draw at best. So,not really rustiness. It has been disappointing peformance by these guys.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
Note that the Indians have likely been doing less over the last year than at least the players from the developed countries given the paucity of good training facilities in India. So, they are likely still working back to physical and game fitness even if they have played a couple of weeks given that they have been relatively inactive for such a long time previous to that.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
This week, Mukund tried to qualify for the main draw since he wasn’t originally in the entry list but fell short in the last round. Seems like, nobody wants to win against lower ranked opponents this week.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
Sad to see these disastrous results. Mukund is going to struggle to retain his ranking.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
This week Mukund has moved comfortably to the semi final.
At Sharm El Sheikh M15, Egypt
[R1] (2) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,311) d. MICHAEL Bassem Sobhy (EGY,NR) 61 61
[R2](2) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,311) d. (Q) GABRIELE Bosio (ITA,2009) 60 62
[QF] (2) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,311) d. MARTINS Podzus (LAT,443) 63 61
QF win by convincing margin is good over 400+ ranked European. First 2 rounds were easy draw for him.
Next,
[SF] (2) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,311) vs. (Q) EDOARDO Eremin (ITA,1561)
Eremin is a former top 300 player who upset 4th and 8th seeds this week so far. So, this would be somewhat challenging match for Mukund.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
He lost in the SF.
At Sharm El Sheikh M15, Egypt
[SF] (2) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,311) l. (Q) EDOARDO Eremin (ITA,1561) 46 16
Just as I was about to say he was regaining his form, he lost a bad one.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
Same feeling here. Just as I was about to say that I don't have to call him Sasi again, Mukund disappeared.
