Karman plays 20-year old Laetitia Pulchartova, ranked #897 in round 2 of the Monastir W15. The match is underway and our girl is leading 6-2 2-1.

$15K Monastir, Tunisia (Hard)

R2 Karman Kaur Thandi (634) 6-2 6-2 Laetitia Pulchartova (CZE, 897) :D

Clear domination from KKT winning the match in over an hour. 83% first serve points won, total points won 61 to 36 breaking her opponent four times in the match. This win should give her the confidence that she can go the distance here.

Plays either her doubles partner (676) or American Amy Zhu (617) in the QF.

Nice to see the dominant win for Karman. Her next opponent, Amy Zhu, partnered Karman's last opponent to the doubles final last week. I expect another easy straight sets win for Karman in the QF. Nothing less than the title this week will do!

Another nice and easy win for Karman.

At W15 ITF Tunisia, Monastir

[QF] Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,634) d. Amy Zhu (USA,617) 64 61

Next,

[SF] Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,634) vs. (2) Suzan Lamens (NED,427)

Lamens qualfied and made it thru to SF in a 25K tournament in France last month. So, this may be tough match for Karman. But, if Karman is close to back to her old level, she can take care of Lamens.

Nice and easy win for Karman in the QF. The SF against the second seed will be a sterner test, but hopefully a back-in-form Karman should come through that as well.

Damn, Karman missed 3 match points in a close loss today. :-(

At W15 ITF Tunisia, Monastir

[SF] Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,634) l. (2) Suzan Lamens (NED,427) 63 46 67(5)

Karman was 3-1 up in the third set, lost 4 straight games to go down 3-5 but win 3 straight games to go up 6-5 abd had 2 match points serving at 40-15 and then another at ad-in and then got broken. In the tie break, Lamens just sneaked ahead.

That hurts. But this is her best result since comeback, so she should keep her head up and focus on doing one better next week, where she will play at the same venue.

Maybe KarKaT is rusty. Hope she gets better both form-wise and fitness-wise and whatever else is preventing her from making the next step.

Yes, next step would mean first to get back to her own earlier level of close to top 200. :D

This week she seems to have gone up a level from next week probably has got back close to top 400 level .

Week 3 in Tunisia;

Karman (634) starts with a first round encounter against Mexican Andrea Renee Villarreal (684), who is 1-3 this year from 3 tournaments. This should be a straight forward win for KKT. She’s also skipping the doubles event this week. :goodluck:

Vanda Lukacs (ITF rank #24) seems to be a pure clay-court specialist as out of 49 tournaments she has entered since May 2018, 46 of them are on clay, while the rest of them are on hardcourt, that too, only during this year. I expect Karman to take advantage of this factor and win this match in straight sets. :goodluck:
