Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
At Doha ATP 250
[R1] (Q) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,202) vs. Alexander Bublik (KAZ,43)
Bublik has already reached 2 ATP finals (Singapore and Antalya) this year and is at his career high ranking. So, this is as tough a match-up one can get in first round.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Great win by RamK!
Tough draw against an inform opponent. His unconventional style may give him his best chance in this match. With lower ranked players (those in the 100-200 level), he would likely benefit with being more patient in his net approaches but against top 50 players it is probably his best strategic choice.

According to Indian Tennis Daily, in a match that had a lot of drama(and an argument between the two players at the end), Bublik beat Ramkumar with an underarm serve on match point.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
^^^There wasn’t much of a drama during the match, but Ramk questioned some of Bublik’s antics after the match was over and as per the commentator, I think Bublik was interacting with his coach/team as an inside joke and wasn’t aimed at Ramk.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Gombos whom Ramk defeated in the FQR now is in the main draw as a lucky loser facing wildcard entrant Malek Jaziri. Talk about luck

Without knowing what really happened, the ITD guys write what they want, utter stupidity to speculate on what they are not aware off.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
It is true tho that Bublik did an underarm serve on matchpoint. The issue as per the commentator was Ram not "being impressed" with Bublik's "antics" and the "shushing gesture" that Bublik did. Another twitter user pointed out (I didn't verify) that Bublik was not happy with Ram shouting "come on" on his faults or something like that

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
I watched the match and yes this is what happened. In the end, Ramk questioned Alex why he was shushing and that he wasn’t respecting him, as an opponent. For which, Alex responded “if you want respect, show respect. And this is probably not the first time anyone has said that to you”.RohitG wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 2:16 am It is true tho that Bublik did an underarm serve on matchpoint. Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Well, if you get an underarm serve and you can't even put that in play (if not hit a winner), you deserve to lose and completely keep your mouth shut. Right? I feel bad for RamK though.
