Is this the worst week ever in Indian tennis history? Or am I sensationalizing? And frustrated. :-(

Certainly, feels that way! Riya Bhatia got a good win but it seems everyone else has underperformed!

RamK pulled out of next week's challenger too in Portugal. People on twitter are speculating that he may have got covid positive probably because he pulled out just hours before his match this week. Hope all is well with him.

After pulling out at the last moment from that Oeiras Challenger in Portugal a month back, RamK has been out of the circuit. Not quite sure if he got covid positive. Could be as his last minute withdrawal was termed for medical reason in the drawsheet, not as injury.

Anyway, he has now fallen outside top 200 and is ranked 216 now. As of now, he is in the qualfying entry list of Zagrab Challenger in 2 weeks time and manin draw entry list of Biella Challenger in Italy a week after that followed by FO qualies.

Hope he recovers by that time from whatever is ailing him.

After a long break of nearly 5 weeks , Ram will be again seen on the courts, where he takes on a Croatian WC in the Qualies opening round at the Zagreb Challenger.
Ram also will be playing the Dbls MD where he is partnering Balaji.

Yes, good to see him back after almost 2 months ( he played his last match in Dubai qualies against Yuki). He plays 976th ranked Nincevic who was thrashed 06 16 by Sumit in a challenger in March. Hope RamK gets back quickly into his stride and beats him.

Yes, nice win to start with for RamK.

At Zagreb Challenger 80, Croatia (Clay)

[Q1] (6) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,217) d. (WC) Frane Nincevic (CRO,1072) 64 63

Next,

[Q2] (6) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,217) vs. (2) Zhizhen Zhang (CHN,186)

RamK has won both matches that he has played against Zhang both on clay in China. But, he is just coming back after a couple of months break and Zhang has played in Europe on clay in past couple of weeks and had couple of good wins. Hope RamK comes up with his A game.

C'mon, RamRam. Beat ZhiZheZhaZhoZhu on European clay like you did on Chinese clay. :-)

Ram completes a straight sets win to move into the MD and at the same time increase his H2H record against Zhang to 3-0.
For a set and half Ram was cruising and looked might finish the match quickly, but few UFE's crept in and gave the break away to extend the set to TB.
Loved the way he shifted gears and increased the tempo of his play, yesterday it was just about getting into rhythm without going all out and had no aces in S1, and only couple at the end of the second set, But today his shots had more power, depth and infact the first point of the match he won started with an ace and by the end of set1 had 8 aces and many service winners.
Irrespective of the results in the coming matches these matches are perfect workouts to get back into a playing rhythm after a long break.

Yes, really good win by RamK especially since he is getting back after a break.

He gets another qualifier in the first round of the main draw.

At Zagreb Challenger 80, Croatia (Clay)

[Q2] (6) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,215) d. (2) Zhizhen Zhang (CHN,186) 63 76(3)

Next,

[R1] (Q) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,215) vs. (Q) Sabestian Baez (ARG,218)

20 year Baez has been on a roll and has won a couple of challengers this year already in South America on clay. So, this will be tough one for RamK.
