Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Now Ram is 1 spot away from making the quali Draw at Nottingham1, which eventually he will , but now with both his matches slated for Thu and likely to win at least 1 , which will make him stay till Friday or possibly even Sat , and than whenever he is done with Italy need to factor in the time to reach Nottingham for the qualies , but if the chances are high to reach upto Sunday's play in Biella than it would make sense to sacrifice the quali's at Nottingham.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Terrific win for Ramkumar over Kavcic, who has often struggled against Indians. But 61 61 against someone with almost the same ranking is very impressive -- that too, on clay!
Won't Ramkumar get a Special Exempt slot at Nottingham if he is still playing singles on Friday/Saturday? I think he will get into the main draw as SE.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Yes he will get a SE,but for that to happen he needs to officially get into the list as right now he is still in quali Alt's list (which he would eventually get in the quali draw) and more importantly continue his run to stretch upto to Fri/Sat.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Usually Challenger qualifiers only start on a previous Sunday these days. So, RamK will have to reach the final this week to get a SE for Nottingham challenger. But, I guess travel from Italy to Great Britain won't be that taxing and he will able to go and play qualies if he is done this week by Friday.
Tricky thing will be if reaches singles SF or doubles final this week which means he will have to be in Italy till Saturday which will make it tough for him to travel and play immediately on Sunday.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
It would not be taxing if there were direct flights from Biella to Nottingham and it would just take less than 3 hrs, but since these are not major ports, one needs to get first to Milan than a flight to London and again by road or train to Nottingham and this complete routing involves a minimum total of 10 to 12 hrs of traveling time

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Ok, thanks Rajeev for those details. So, basically if he loses before singles SF or doubles final this week, he will have no issues getting to Nottingham. But, if he reaches singles SF or doubles final he will be pretty much out of Nottingham unless of course if he goes on to reach singles final in which case he will get SE into main draw at Nottingham.
Of course, if he is reaching singles SF and all with extra points he is getting he may not mind much in missing out next week even if it is on his favourite surface.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
It’s Matteo Berrettini’s brother. I’m not surprised at this loss considering Ramk still continues to play the serve and volley technique even while he’s playing crucial games. That one DF in the last set also costed him the match (especially after breaking his opponent back).

Tough to win when your first serve percentage is in the 40’s all match.

He was slicing quite a bit also. Not sure if that works these days.Dinesh wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 1:51 pm It’s Matteo Berrettini’s brother. Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Yes, suddenly went back into slicing on backhand side after hitting so many topspin backhand in the previous match. His serving and volleying was also not at his best. Having said that his opponent also did not play anything like player ranked in 500's. He was much better.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Ram makes it into the quali draw at Newport Grass Courts and for Dbls too moves a spot up to get a seeding with Quereshi at #4 in the Dbls MD.
Mukund in singles & Bala/Margroli , Raja/Jeevan too figure in the entries but all of them are still in the Alt list , if some of them make's the cut ,than maybe can open a new thread for this tournament.
