Yes, this week Manish was unlucky with the draw. But before this, he also had 4 losses, a couple of them against lower ranked players. Of course, he has played only 6 matches in 3 and half months of this year so far which is too few. Needs to get some easy draws to get some matches under his belt to increase his confidence.

Manish is another one who skipped the junior circuit altogether like all the Tamil Nadu boys. So, he will have to learn it the hard way on pro circuit like RamK and Mukund before him.

Siddharth lost in the QF against top seed.

At the $25,000 USD Shymkent ITF, KAZ (Clay-Outdoor):

[R2] (6) Sidharth RAWAT (IND,511) d. Grigoriy LOMAKIN (KAZ,777 ITF) 06 62 62

[QF] (6) Sidharth RAWAT (IND,511) l. (1) Roman SAFIULLIN (RUS,298) 36 63 26

Bad results in Kazakhstan too this week.

At $25K Shymkant,Kazakhstan( Clay)

[R1] Aleksandre METREVELI (GEO) 6-1 3-6 6-1 Sidharth RAWAT (IND) [7]

[R1] Timofei SKATOV (KAZ) 6-0 4-6 6-2 Manish SURESHKUMAR (IND)

So,6th straight set loss for Manish this year and no ATP points so far this year. Hope he gets out of this slump soon.

Sid Rawat and Manish made the doubles final which should give them some confidence.

Both Sid Rawat and Manish will be in the couple of 25K's in Uzbekistan in next 2 weeks where they will be joined by Rishab Agarwal ( coming back from injury) and Aryan Goveas. Hope our players do better on hard courts.

Indy de Vroome took off two years from tennis due to Lyme diseases (Source: Wikipedia) and returned to playing tennis in October 2018. I don't think Jennifer needs to be too upset at the shellacking she received from Indy. This experience will be useful as she moves up the rankings.

It was a bit if surprise that this 19 year old got a wild card in this challenger in Spain. Probably he is training at an acedemy there. He put up a decent fight against a top 400 player and the experience will be good for him.

To complete the loop her from the early results posted by Dinesh above, Humeira Begum Sheikh reached QF in Tunisia last week beating Jeniffer Luikham in second round before losing to a Danish player.

Also another 18 year Sathwika Sama reached QF in Egypt before losing to top seed.

Will look forward to see what progress these 18 year olds make in next few months.

A few of our players including Zeel Desai played in South Africa but Zeel got upset in second round.Ashmita Eswarmurthi lost in QF.

All of these players are playing in Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa this week too.

This week Sathwika Sama lost in the QF in Egypt while Zeel Desai have reached SF in South Africa. As Zeel has a separate thread, will post her results in that thread.

In the meantime , Adil Kalyanpur has reached SF in a futures in Turkey.

At $15K ITF Men Turkey

[R1] Adil KALYANPUR (IND,1108) d. Alexander OVCHAROV (RUS,1406) 61 46 64
[R2] Adil KALYANPUR (IND,1108) d. (7) Alexander SHEVCHENKO (RUS,722) 76(7) 64
[QF] Adil KALYANPUR (IND,1108) d. (4) Marsel ILHAN (TUR,610) 62 62

Nice win over former top 100 player Marsel Ilhan in the QF. He is up against top seed next.

Adil Kalyanpur!

Post by PKBasu »

WOW!! That is a mighty impressive win over one of Turkey's best, Marsel Ilhan, who was ranked 77 four years ago. He is 32 years old now, but beating him 62 62 in TURKEY is very impressive indeed! Go Adil!!

But, one sided loss for Adil in the SF against top seed.

At $15K ITF Men Turkey

[SF] Adil KALYANPUR (IND,1108) l. (1) Peter HELLER (GER,395) 16 06

It seems Adil has now moves away from Rafa Nadal Academy and has joined Nansel acadamy in Germany where Sumit trains.

Hope that changes his fortunes. He does seem to have physical tools to succeed and has the talent based on his early junior results. Just not been able to put all together so far.
