I guess Siddhant Banthia and Manish Sureshkumar who showed promise when relatively young are having a hard time transitioning to the higher professional levels.

True, especially Manish. I was expecting to get into at least top 400 by now. But, his ranking ( and maybe his game) has regressed. Hope he gets it back soon. He still has time on his hand.

In the meantime, Terrence Das who is now 18 is playing in his first tournament of the year and pulled of a good win in main draw after making it in as a lucky loser. Arjun lost in first round of the same tournament.

At $15K futures, Vale Do Lobo, Portugal (Hard)

[Q1] Terence Das (IND,1918) d. (4) Filipe Brandao (BRA,1194) 64 64
[Q2] Terence Das (IND,1918) d. Anton Desyatnik (RUS,1332) 63 64
[Q3] Terence Das (IND,1918) l. (10) Juan Pablo Canas Garcia (ESP,1294) 36 46

[R1] (LL) Terence Das (IND,1918) d. Alberto Barroso Campos (ESP,858) 64 75
[R1] (8) Arjun Kadhe (IND,667) l. Arthur Cazaux (FRA,1080) 75 36 46

Next,

[R2] (LL) Terence Das (IND,1918) vs. (5) Sebastian Fanselow (GER,522)

Terrence lost that doubles match against the top seeds. In singles, he won 2 good qualifying matches before losing in Q3 against a higher ranked Polish player. But he gets in as lucky loser and plays 863rd ranked Joao Monteiro from Portugal in first round today.

Terrence lost in first round in straight sets. It was his first tournament in a while, hope he does better in subsequent weeks.

At this weeks, $15K event in Sharm El Shiek

[R1] (WC) S. Banthia (IND, 1285) d B. Bobrov (RUS, 446) 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-3
[R1] N. Visker (NED, 1355) d. S. Rawat (IND, 453) 6-3, 7-6(4)
[R1] G . Onclin (BEL, 649) d. A. Kadhe (IND, 661) 6-4, 5-7, 6-4

Good surprise win by Banthia who is still 20 years old. Poor result by Rawat and a par performance from Kadhe.

Banthia lost in the second round tamely after causing that upset.

Banthia,Arjun Kadhe and Siddhart Rawat have been playing on ITF circuit in Egypt here since past 5 weeks. To summariese their results -

Sid Banthia- lost in qualifying in first 4 weeks, got a wild card to main draw this week and lost in second round.
Arjun Kadhe - 3 first round losses and 2 second round losses
Sid Rawat- 3 first round losses and 2 second round losses
'
So, overall quite disappointing performances especially by Rawat who was looking to be making the challenger main draws earlier this year.

Only consolation is Arjun winning 2 doubles titles. But, we know that he is much better doubles player.

Next week the tour moves to Cairo on clay. Arjun and Sid Rawat continue there and will be joined by Manish Sureshkumar and Abhinav Sanjeev.
