At Orlando 2 Florida Challenger 80,USA

[R1] Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,326) vs. (Q) Nicolas Mejia (COL,341)

Mejia has made a challenger final last month. So, no easy match for Mukund.

Doubles-

[R1] (3) Jeevan Nedunzheziyan (IND) / Purav Raja (IND) vs (WC) Jack Vance (USA) /Tennyson Whiting (USA)

Disappointing loss against Mejia ... Mejia was a former top-4 junior player but that wasn't an excuse for this poor loss.

A loss wouldn't have been too bad, but that scoreline is bad :(

Mejia who Mukund lost to has gone on to reach final at Orlando now.

Talking about Indian players running into in-form players this week seems to be full of that. Apart from Mukund, RamK lost in Q2 to Romanian Copil who went on to reach SF in Nottingham and in doubles the pair whom they lost to went on to win the title. Also Sumit and Balaji lost in doubles to pairs who went on to win titles.
Karman lost in a close match in R2 against Robinsen who has gone on to reach the final.

Drawing Indian players early seems to be lucky charm for player to go deep in the tournaments.

The first of the only 2 Challengers before the USO at Cary takes place.

Mukund gets a lucky break , as originally was scheduled to meet the Top seed and beaten finalist at NewPort, Jenson Brokskby who's last minute withdrawal is taken place by a qualifier.

Ram once again a good draw , face a qualifier , in the opening round and should he win , could face the winner of (PR) James Ward/Qualifier match in R2.

Prajnesh meanwhile the 2nd seed , has a tricky opening round against the American Thai-Son Kwiatkowski

If the matches go according to the plan, than Ram & Prajnesh could meet in the Qtrs.

So, these are the match-ups for our players-

At Cary Challenger 80, USA

[R1] Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,323) vs. (Q) Generao Alberto Olivieri (ARG,445)

[R1] (8) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,227) vs. (Q) Alexander Kovacevic (USA,413)

[R1] (2) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,156) vs. Thai-Son Kwiatkowaski (USA,226)

Prajnesh seems to have the toughest match but other 2 are not really easy. Olivieri reached a 25K futures final recently while Kovacevic reached a challenger SF. So, they are no pushovers. But, Mukund,RamK ( and Prajnesh) need to win these matches.

All matches second on court today ( Tuesday). So, around the same time around 12.30 / 1 pm local time ( 10-10.30 pm India time).

Prajnesh's match started first.

He went down a break early to 2-3 in first set but came back to win the next 4 games to take the first set 6-3.
