W25 Oeiras, Portugal April 26- May 2, 2021
The 2 W25 events that were supposed to start in Jhajjar were canceled due to the surge in covid cases and thankfully the players that entered there are now allowed to join other tournaments as Ankita, Rutuja, and Riya are all in the main draw entry list at the Oeiras, Portugal ITF event. I believe the draw sizes must have expanded after the Indian one was canceled as the acceptance list shows 32 entrants (for a 48 player draw). Pranjala and Sowjanya are listed under qualifying.

This is in fact a new tournament added by ITF to replace Jhajjar ITF. Apart from 32 entered I guess there will 8 qualfiers and 4 wild cards. Still, does not make it 48. Not sure how they will fill up the remaining 4 spots.
But, good that our players entered there. Not too many tournaments to follow up for them though. So, it may be expensive for these players to travel there only for a week.

Perhaps, the top 4 seeds get a bye in R1?This is in fact a new tournament added by ITF to replace Jhajjar ITF. Apart from 32 entered I guess there will 8 qualfiers and 4 wild cards. Still, does not make it 48. Not sure how they will fill up the remaining 4 spots.

^^^ yes, that would probably be the case. ITF hosted a $60K ITF in Switzerland earlier this month which featured a 64-player main draw with 16 byes for the top 16 seeds. This means Ankita will have the chance to play her doubles round first before her singles 2nd round. Some much needed practice on this surface.

I might have started this thread prematurely since Ankita and Pranjala withdrew. Ankita’s scheduling is starting to be a mystery now. Only Riya is in the MD so far and a bunch of girls in the Q.

Riya was the only one to take advantage of this. Lost in the first round of singles main draw to a qualifier but won her doubles first round match and will play a local unseeded team in the next.
