perhaps he should get back to the challenger circuit to win some matches and build confidence. There is going to be a slew of them in Europe in time for the clay slam.

As long as he has the rankings, these events pay much better and he should take the pay. It is hard enough to make things work as a player. Maybe he needs the right partner. It is not a bad idea to go down to a challenger and play but let him play at this level as long as he can. His rankings will fall if he does not win and he will have to player the lower level challengers then. If his rankings does not fall to that level, then he will have survived and made more money to afford better trainers/coaches, etc.
