Bugs and errors for the new configuration.. (Suggestions...)

Post by Dhruv »

Hi all,

Could you please list the bugs and errors that you have seen in the new site (forum and the drupal stuff).

I will be making additions once the basic stuff is sorted and this includes in order of priority ...

Return of the gallery
Return of the chat
Some Wikipedia type function
Some Blog type functionality

Cheers,

Dhruv,

Not sure whether I am looking at the right place. Can you point me to a link for "View recent posts in the forum"?

You should be able to do so from inside the topic and moderator tools (bottom right)

Jaydeep .. I don't have a problem seeig all the buttons for split, merge, to select posts individually to split away etc, after clicking the "mod panel" at the top. Just noticed the "quick mod tools" menu at the bottom right too, after Dhruv mentioned.

Anyway, why don't you try to split the 2020 Olympics posts from the 2012 thread and see if it works from your end. I don't have anything to split right now to check. I assume it works. Let us know ...

I do not like the second scroll bar (the first one is from the browser). The first scroll bar was enough to scroll up and down. But, now, we have two levels of scrolling and that is throwing me off. Do we really need this second scroll bar? I would vote against it.

Also, I used to use space in Firefox to go to the next page down and so on. Now, I have to point and click and the space to go down a page does not work. This is more cumbersome.

It is on the left at the top after you login to the forum.

phpBB3/search.php?search_id=newposts

Thanks Suresh. The problem with that view is: it only shows the topics with new posts. Not the actual posts themselves.

Previous link at the old Forum, used to show all posts (message texts) in reverse chronological order for up to 10 pages of 10 posts each. Dhruv, is it possible to have something like that in the new Forum as well?

thanks

Do you mean you want something like this....

Custom search

PS: Can't wait for the search indexing to be over..... The site is acting up and is stupidly slow as the search index is being built.

Ah, that explains it. I was abou to ask if it should be expected to be this slow always. It is not unbearably slow or anything, but is certainly slower than the earlier forum, so far.

Dhruv, I can't see any of the moderator functions in the forums.

Also, is the quick reply box not available in this format or am I not able to see it?

YESSS!! thanks Dhruv. If you can provide a link to that as "Recent Posts" in the Forum that will be great.

Meanwhile, I will bookmark it for now and use the "Custom search" link you gave.

cheers

Search index building finally complete..... The search should be fully functional now and the site should be faster as well. I am slowly rebuilding menus and the like but just realised that the order in which I edit articles is important :-).....
