This was a good performance overall.

We went head to head against Belgium despite all the poor refereeing for almost the entire match.

Yes we did well it seems for first 3Q but could not hold our shape in last 15 mins when it mattered the most... India hockey desperately needs a medal so hoping for Bronze now...

How many times have I said that we will be prevented from winning a medal at a major tournament by the disgraceful umpiring bias.  :damn: :damn:

So, why was Manpreet sent out in the 4th quarter? Not sure if that added to the troubles but we just didn't recover from that point on. I didn't see anything...

A medal in hockey is a very long shot. Best case scenario is Australia beating Germany and we somehow get a result v. the latter. Unlikely, but sometimes the other team will miss about 8 PCs and we can sneak a win.

Women's best chance is to win the semi, because GB will have even more umpiring help than the other white teams.

Women's team was present during the Men's semifinal...should be enough to get the reality check of umpiring and bring down their euphoria for tomorrow match

Players and coaches all know what to expect. I often see our foreign coaches shaking their heads and smiling wryly at the 20-30 bad decisions we get in every single match. The real shocker at this Olympics has been the unbelievable decisions by the video umpires. Today's on field umpires were German & Dutch and the video guy was an Aussie.

Women's umpiring is even worse than the men's.

Argentina should be too good for us, but if we can beat Australia, who knows? And they won't enjoy as much 'help' as the European and Oceanic teams.

Manpreet being sent off in the 4th quarter was an utterly ludicrous decision. The commentators thought the card had been issued to a Belgian player, but it was Manpreet who got the card. During the minutes that he was off the field, Belgium went up 3-2, and then scored off a penalty stroke to go up 4-2. That was the match. India did very well until the 3rd quarter, and then that really crappy piece of umpiring did India in.

^^ I just didn't understand why he was sent off. What did he do? I should watch the archived video. But what is the point? What is done is done. The referees were atrocious today.
