Re: India in Australia, 2018-2019

I'm impressed Jay! :D Yeah - quite a few similarities between Thommo and Bumrah : ambling run-up (almost a shuffle), slinging action, lots of shoulder. Thommo was quicker, but Bumrah has more variations. Side note: Thommo used to stay fit by chasing wild pigs in the Australian brush. Here is a short...

Re: India in Australia, 2018-2019

When Bumrah started his Test career, I was skeptical. I knew he was a very good T20 and ODI bowler, but was not convinced of how his skills would translate to Test cricket. Boy, has he proved me wrong! He has become a superb Test bowler. He is smart, disciplined, hard-working and always learning. He...

Re: India in Australia, 2018-2019

India has announced their XI for Melbourne: 1 Mayank Agarwal, 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Virat Kohli (capt), 5 Ajinkya Rahane, 6 Hanuma Vihari, 7 Rishabh Pant (wk), 8 Ravindra Jadeja, 9 Mohammed Shami, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Jasprit Bumrah Like Sin Hombre, I would have had Pandya in place ...

Re: Asia Cup, 2018

Agree completely with your XI Prasen. If the bench does not play in the next game against Afghanistan, they never will. I'd be OK if they want to play Chahal instead of Kuldeep too.

I think VReddy is referring to Mohammed Siraj.

Re: Indian domestic cricket/ players

Four pacers have been tried for India A in the 4-day games in England (against WI A and England A) and in India (against SA A and Aus A). Of the six games (including the current one against Aus A), Md. Siraj has played 5, Navdeep Saini 5, Ankit Rajpoot 4 and Gurbani 2. It has been a choice between R...

Re: Indian domestic cricket/ players

Mohammed Siraj continues his great form with 8-59 against Australia A in Bengaluru.

He has done enough to deserve a spot in the Test squad for the next series (maybe in place of Umesh Yadav).

Re: India in England, 2018

Just FYI ... The second India A vs. South Africa A "Test" was played in Alur, not Bengaluru. It is about 200 km west of Bengaluru. I'm guessing the pitch was different from the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The sky was overcast and there was a strong cross wind for at least part of the match, which...

Re: Indian domestic cricket/ players

Medium pacer Mohammed Siraj from Hyderabad may be someone to keep an eye on. He is 24, and is making the most of his opportunities with India A in the red ball format. One the recent tour of England, he got 4-68 and 4-64 vs. West Indies A, 4-79 and 3-55 vs. England Lions. In the just concluded match...

Re: General Tennis Discussions

Very nice interview of Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf by Vijay Amritraj. Did not know where else to post it, so I posted it here. Mods - please move if you think it belongs elsewhere. I apologize if someone has already posted it. It is in 3 parts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9c7AIpsxzE https://ww...

Re: India in England, 2018

PKB and sanjay8886 - please stop throwing around terms like "fixed". It is very easy to sit back in an armchair and use damning words like that. The worst thing a sportsman can be accused of is cheating. Call it incompetent, sloppy, whatever else. Unless you have proof, please avoid casual...

Re: India domestic season 2017/18

Prasen - minor correction - it was Baba Indrajith who got 200 and 24 not out for India Red vs. India Blue, not Baba Aparajith.

Re: Test series in 2017

For Test matches, I have a bias towards the best keeper, with batting being secondary. The chances of a so-so keeper being exposed are much greater in a Test match. I would persist with Saha until another keeper emerges who can come very close to his keeping ability, and who is also a better bat. Fo...
