Re: FIDE Candidates 2024
Gukesh is 1 point ahead of Diren in ELO Live Ratings. So, he is the favorite. :p Gukesh infact seems to be the favorite, as D Liren seems to be coming back from some state of D'Lirium and hasn't done too well at Tata open in Jan this year(he took break for some mental illness it seems). If Liren is...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
Deepak Punia would have qualified if not for the Dubai desert floods. We still have the last qualification tournament at Istanbul from May9th, don't we stand any chance of qualifying 1 or 2 men there? The same set of wrestlers seem to be going to Istanbul.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
There shouldn't be any selection dilemma if the NRAI has the maturity befitting an elite shooting nation's association body that achieved 2nd highest number of qualifications. They could have held Olympic trials for all the available pool of 30-40 shooters in the same qualifications and finals forma...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
^^ Her lift of 184 Kg is way below her own personal best of 207 kg. she was 12th over all in the most recent competition. So do you think she is playing safe knowing very well that just a qualification might be enough as medal is not possible anyway returning from injury lay off and will be returnin...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
This bridge article hasn't mentioned anything about how she fared in comparison to her competitors. It only mentioned that she lifted 81kg/103Kg ((184kg overall) in comparison to her personal best of 88kg/119kg (207 over all). To put things in perspective, she was 3rd in her group and 12th overall a...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
^^ Right but the fact that Gracenote could never get it right in the curious case of India may continue to hold in 2024 too. So there is every chance India may beat their expectations for a change! We are getting near to full quota of 24 in shooting this time, with already 19 just 3 below the Chines...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
Not that Gracenote has predicted India's Olympic outcomes correctly anytime before, but just to take cognizance of the fact they published an updated virtual table on Feb29th. https://www.nielsen.com/news-center/2024/virtual-medal-table-forecast/ Gracenote thinks India got 7 medals at Tokyo but it m...

Re: Preparing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Yesterday there was a remarkable judgement delivered by supreme court that the current electoral bond system implemented by Modi government from 2017 is unconstitutional. Leaving aside the merits or demerits of such judgment in fixing the corruption, the judgment itself was ground breaking because i...

Re: Anirudh Chandrasekar/ N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth Thread
What Sanskrit? They are a couple of Chennai Chaps. Sanskrit is an alien language for the Dravida region. But Prachanda means "passionate, fierce, hot" etc - so that is fitting. Just curious. Are Chandrasekhar and Prashanth words that come from Dravidian roots or Sanskrit? Well, Prachanda ...

Re: indian football
I mean EVERYWHERE except the Indian subcontinent. Till we solve the playing area issue (which is connected to kids' interest too, somewhat), we won't get anywhere. how can we be missing out China ? Indian sub continent and China put together form more than 1/3 of world population(actually about 40%...
