Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
Vaishnavi Adkar and Karan Singh make the Semis of their respective W15 and M15 events. Pretty good showing by them in events outside India.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Good to see Manas beat a 800 ranked player. With his loss to an inform 400+ player last week (who went on to win the title), Manas's game seems to be showing significant improvement.
Will be curious to see how he does in the junior slams this year if he plays them.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
This has to be some injury issue if he is going to miss 3 more weeks as he stated in that article on Times of India. Nobody in his right mind would miss a chance to play Rome masters where he would be a high seed in qualies and miss out on all the money and instead does training right there in Germ...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
^^^ You bet he knows about the money he is losing right now. He can show up and tank a match, to make some $$$ (a few or many thousands), so he is not going to "throw it away" for no reasons! I appreciate that he is withdrawing properly and in a timely manner from events, rather than make...

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
But we do celebrate our Athletics Olympic finalists. Our “legendary” Milkha Singh and PT Usha were 4th in their Olympic events and those like GS Randhawa and Sriram Singh were also quite well known for making Olympics finals.

^^^Q Wang is 32 years old and coming back after a 15 month absence. Chances are that she may not be playing much better than top 200 or 150 level right now. Still a difficult match for Rutuja.

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
I think we will get multiple medals in shooting. Our very first individual gold and silver were won in shooting, so we have had success in the past. Other the shooters, SatChi, Neeraj, women wrestlers, and women boxers look like the only ones with a reasonable chance of success. So, 5-6 seems like a...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
^^^ He is not a big momentum guy, and has shown before that he can take time off and get back in good form. I am not worried too much about that. But we really don't know why he is taking 5+ weeks off. The reasons he has given do not make too much sense. He said 2-3 weeks at first, entered tourname...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
^^^^A deep run in the French Open should do it! A QF for Sumit would take him to #50 and a SF run for Yuki would take him to #35 which should put them in contention.

Both our seeds Karan Singh and SDPD win their first round while Manish Sureshkumar loses. The 2 JE's are yet to play.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
So any points from Cagliari for Sumit will be added back when the rankings are next updated in 2 weeks. With respect to Cagliari, Sumit needs 9 players in the current Cagliari MD to either advance to the second week in Madrid (or a few others withdraw for other reasons). Some of the better players i...

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
Rohan can take Sumit to the Olympics even if Sumit does not make it on his own in singles. A top 10 doubles player can partner with anyone from his country that has a top 300 singles or doubles rank, so Sumit would certainly qualify as Rohan’s partner.

Pretty amazing achievement for Gukesh!! He also moves to #6 in the world rankings. Based on his performance here, he may be underranked!

Ramk beats Palan 4&2. Up next, is the slightly higher ranked Rio Noguchi.
