Absent injury, very likely to pass Sumit’s career best. In terms of current ranking, he could pass Sumit in the first few months of next year as Sumit has significant points to defend on hard courts in the next few months.

Yes, he is currently 9th and possibly in a qualifying spot if top ranked Fils skips the event as I read somewhere.

^^^^I believe Nishesh is also now in the lead of the challenge for the US wild card to the Australian Open. This is a 4 week challenge among US players with the last week next week (i.e., this is the 3rd week of the challenge). https://www.tennistourtalk.com/115831/australian-open-wild-card-challeng...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024
The best Indian player is through to the semis. Not sure what happened with Karan Singh as that looks like a poor score line and SDPD retired after wasting match points in the second set.

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024
^^^Not so sure about that. Most/many junior GS champs (in boys) become top 100 type decent pros but getting to top 20 isn't by any means guaranteed. The last Indian to win (Yuki Bhambri) in 2009 was a solid top 100 player who was hampered by injuries but was never a threat to get into top 20. India ...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024
Excellent performance by Rethin to take out the 4th seed. Also great to see Manas put up a decent fight against a top 260 player. I have seen Svercina play couple of very competitive challenger finals against Sumit and he is very good, close to top 200 level. So, Manas's scoreline against him reall...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024
Indian youngsters playing well. Rethin and Aryan both win and meet each other in QF. Dev Javia and Karan have won the first set and hopefully can finish the job.
Manas was up 5-2 on Svrcina with 2 breaks but then lost 5 games in a row. Hope he can come back.

Re: U.S. Politics
The article above is written by someone that does not understand the US. He seemed to focus on the abortion issue In reality, Abortion is actually supported by a vast majority of the Americans . Even in Florida where it got 57% support. Agree that Trump won on the economy and inflation. He also won ...

Re: What ails Indian tennis? Nearly nobody in top-300s
Not so easy. The whole world plays tennis. Not more than 7-8 countries kids play cricket seriously. We also do not have that much access to courts in every neighborhood or so and thus tennis is costly. The best option may be if there was a useful AITA, it could ask the government to fund a public c...

I think Rethin is also on an upswing and could pull off an upset as you predicted. Hopefully, we get at least 5 in the QFs.

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024
Aryan Shah is ranked 624 (CH 621) at age 18, which is very decent. These M25s are a big opportunity for him to aim for the top-500. Next up, though, is a key test in the form of Sid Rawat, who has a career high of 430. I believe Aryan will win this match. Aryan at 13.35 is slightly higher rated tha...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024
I agree almost all that you are saying except '' I have not seen the math to show that this is the case''. . I will probably do the math and show it you and then we can discuss :D Actually, you really need to agree with that sentence because I have not honestly seen the math and what I did was poss...

Re: Karan Singh thread
Only a dufus would equate a thread here with a national award. Kinda obvious that the higher ranked players will have more following and discussion. But even a lower ranked prodigy like Manas D may well have bigger following than a higher ranked older player (say Dev Javia) so I’m fine with having t...

Re: U.S. Politics
India has one of the best democracies among the developing nations. The ruling party being loyal to the majority isn’t worse than a ruling party that panders to the Pakistanis or the Chinese… That's your opinion Kinda inane comment. Probably meaning that it is distinct from your opinion. The last t...

Re: Karan Singh thread
To the best of my knowledge, the threads are not achievement awards, like the Arjuna award or the Padma Shri. It is mostly for players that we want to follow and discuss and not have that discussion lost in the more general threads. In any case when a player is playing in a tournament with other Ind...
