Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024

I believe Aryan will win this match. ^^^ By the way, how come Pranav Karthik withdrew from the qualies lists for both the first two Indian weeks? Was it because his new ranking could only be used for the last week? I think he will be a top-12 or probably even a top-8 quailies seed with a 1569 ranki...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024

Aryan Shah is ranked 624 (CH 621) at age 18, which is very decent. These M25s are a big opportunity for him to aim for the top-500. Next up, though, is a key test in the form of Sid Rawat, who has a career high of 430. His ranking is much more than decent, PKB. He is #10 in the world among players ...

Re: Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty thread

Guess who will be the India #1 at the end of this week? Yes, Shrivalli  As Sahaja loses 20 pts from last year, she drops to 208 points and will be just behind SRB at 209 points. Ankita will be #3 just one pt behind SY with 207 points. It cannot get any closer than that. Unfortunately, all thr...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024

I don't think we can argue that any Indian player is over-ranked at the moment, since there haven't been too many tournaments in India over the past 6 months. They have mostly earned their rankings the hard way -- overseas -- albeit occasionally in "easier" locales, eg, Africa. Aryan got ...

Re: U.S. Politics

The currency issued by the Azad Hind Bank was backed by gold, and held its value much better than the currency circulated by Japan in its occupied territories. Oh really? I did not know this! I knew that enough people trusted Subhash Bose to get the job done (probably even more people than trusted ...

Yeah, I didn't expect him to shellack Rishab like this! Aryan continues to show that his ranking is not a fluke. Probably a tad bit over-ranked, but not by much, if at all.

6- Siddharth Vishwakarma d. Yuvan Nandal 26 63 62 Good fight by Yuvan Nandal against an in-form player. But I am getting impatient to see Yuvan getting his psyche in order, to win such matches. He loses a lot of matches in the third set... Oh well. One of these days he will break out. The guy has a...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024

My argument was that just improving your rank on paper means nothing of value in the real world. The only argument I found plausibly convincing was that it gets you points so that you can travel abroad and then you can play better opponents. In essence, avoiding better opponents in India to play be...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024

The qualies have one two rounds and reached Q3. The top 7 seeds have all reached the Q3. Udit Kamboj beating the 8th seed Manish Ganesh was really the only surprise so far. All the rest of the matches went as I expected, except a couple of matches - one a 75 67(4) [10-7] barnburner between Abhinav S...

Re: ITF M25 Series, India Nov 2024

The main draw is out, and it is not a great draw for most of the players I like. Aryan, Manas, Yuvan, Rethin etc are all in the main draw. Manas has a winnable match against Manish but will run into Svrcina in the R2 itself. Yuvan, as usual not lucky in any way, gets the 6th seed Sid V who will be t...

^^^ Actually the second tournament. They played together at Taipei last week but went down in the R1 to the 2nd seeds, in a good match. Impressive to see them hitting a stride so quickly though!

Re: Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli Thread

We don't start doubles player threads all that often. Doubles pair threads have been started and there was some criterion on winning a few events together that I had made once (can't remember). This may actually be the first individual thread for a doubles players (other than Prarthana on the women'...
