Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

I don't understand why Karnataka has to do fewer tests on Sunday when their TPR is way too high. Can't they get to doing 1.5 lakh tests per day? I don't know how TN manages to do enough tests on Sunday's as well. They are not in great either but Karnataka is making them look good. A lot of the Sund...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

The ventilators from one manufacturer from Gujarat that were purchased using PMCares Fund were of poor quality and did not work. There was some criticism then but one would think that one year is more than enough to sort that out. Suresh, that complaint was investigated by India Today in the report...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Here is a good investigative article - Did ventilators from PM Cares Fund fail or states failed to manage them? ( India Today ) Turns out that states like Punjab (who complained about Centre's ventilators not working) never really installed all the ventilators they got late last year in October, and...

^^ So what rating do you give to this? - Cow urine protects from Covid-19: BJP MP Pragya Thakur (India Today) [What can we do to get rid of some of these nut-cases? I don't have a problem with her drinking cow-urine. Actually Ayurveda does say that it is helpful for some things, and on the items tha...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Haha, it is like somebody read my note the other day about Odisha. An article today on the topic that nobody had really looked into. The ridiculously low death total in ODI -- Bodies incinerated at one crematorium outnumber Odisha’s total COVID-19 toll (The Hindu)

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

Non-whites could not become citizens of the US until the change in the law in 1965 I am sure you meant non-white immigrants ... Non-whites (like African Americans) born in the US could be citizens from 1868 onward. America then did everything possible to keep away Asians with various tricks like "l...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

We end the day with +262.9K (with Ladakh and Diu to add a 150+)... This was from 1919K tests, at 13.70% ... So, the positivity keeps dropping nicely. The 7-day average of daily cases fell by about 9500 to 319K Uttarakhand also added an 87 of reconciled deaths. That and the ongoing MAH reconciliation...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Actually, I was saying that just to be prepared (because some countries did have a third wave start fairly soon; though most seemed to not take significantly faster time than between the 1st and 2nd). We just need to have the worst case scenarios planned, unlike for the second wave. Since it was 5 m...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

In fact, the problem in SUTRA is that they do not have enough of fundamental dynamics of disease spread in terms of mutations. In fact, none of the mathematical models of epidemiology, which SUTRA and a few foreign models are based on, seem to have a good handle on that. For one wave, once it gets g...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Oh, thanks, Jay, Did not remember the earlier discussion. But, then they look bold in predicting 15K at end June. I know it is difficult to predict but do you think it is realistic to get to that level by end June ? I was thinking about that too. I seriously doubt it. We will drop pretty fast, whic...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

^^ Sameer, we had a good discussion on the model a few days earlier. They screwed up badly with extremely poor predictions from late March. They told the Central government on April 2nd that the peak would be around 100K, and we were already around 80K by then (possibly predictions from last week of...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

+249K today with Uttarakhand, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand to come. Looks like something under 270K today. Maharashtra said 516 deaths for today at first, but then a +484 went on top of that (must be reconciliation), and it is 1000 deaths from MAH today. Pretty clear that they are releasing data on ear...
