They have done exactly the right thing and have done it well. Perhaps you can substantiate whatever you mean by "justify the talents of all three"? They are all very talented and need to be supported.

:Offtopic:

Sandeep,

Someday when you will become a father of three children (as I am) and all of them are talented but you have limited resources then ask yourself what will you do?

As a parent when you will compare your decision with that of another family that may have made a decision different than yours, you will notice that both the families have made the correct choices for their children.

I am sure that the Mirzas and the Bhambris love their children immensely and let us not second guess their decisions for their children. I am sure that both the families will feel hurt if they read in this forum that we are critical of their decision.

Hey, it is commendable that all 3 of them are playing tennis. No one hates them for that!!!!The whole discussion is going on because we like them and there is a thread for them. Even if they read about this in our forum, they surely will be good enough to think that all this happened because we want to see them right on top :D .

Now what I mean by justify is as Sania claims, her father spend around 30 lakhs per year on her. Can Bhambri's spend 90 Lakhs!!! on their children??? Or if they have 30 lakhs what will they do?? Will they distribute 10lakhs each which is no good on anyone or will they spend whole 30 lakhs on one player? If they do the later then it doesn't matter how many children in your family are playing tennis. But as Bhushan pointed out it can't be that way. They must be splitting the amount between three? Is that enough for someone to become player? Definitely not, right.

Bsharma I know it is extremely difficult decision to make when you have 3 talented children, but that is how champions are produced. There need to be lot of unimaginable sacrifices. It is hard but that is the way it is.

I second what Bhushan just said.

We need to be careful in all our criticisms of the families; Lord knows what they all go through to get these kids to come to the levels they are getting to. It is tough enough to do it, and even the mild suggestive comments we make would look like criticism, so we need to word these things carefully.

To be frank, I had myself made some comments on things like Ankita never getting into the junior circuit with any seriousness, though Sanaa did. I never figured that out - as Ankita played a lot more senior events which looked like a tougher thing to do when Sanaa was focusing on the juniors .. But whatever that is, Ankita has turned quite alright through what appeared to be a much riskier path. The parents made their own decisions and I don't think they have made any big mistakes in it. Could Ankita have created a lot more noise in the juniors and perhaps brought in a bit more sponsorship by now? .. Perhaps yes - and that is why said a few times that she should play more juniors .. But as we don't know all the details and parameters of how the parental decisions went, we should just try to stay away from sounding too criticial - and so I was quite muted in my comments too ...

Whatever all that is, we have to give all support to the Bhamri family and their decisions. It is a very tough job that they are doing.

Sandeep,

There are some things in life that are best left undiscussed. Both families are doing the best as they see fit. Personal money is a small part in the making of a champion.

In the Boys doubles, Sameer Paranjape partnering Abdulnour Bronou(SYR) has reached the semis.

The Indian pair of Mansingh Athare and Christopher Marquis gave a w/o in their QF, sending Yuki Bhambri and his partner Francis Alacantra(PHI) into the other semis.

In the girls doubles, Prerna Mythri Appineni partnering Grace Sari Ysidora(INA) defeated the Indian duo of Aishwarya Srivastava and Tashmi Teltumde to reach the semi finals.

The other Indian pair of Janaki Rao and Shwetha Solanki lost in the first round itself.

That was an excellent upset win by Yuki to upset the top seed. Not just a top-seed; that guy had won the title in the last tournament too (he may be tired too, though). Fantastic work by Yuki to beat him so easily though.

Remember that this kid is a couple of years younger than most players ouot there!

By the way, what is the origin of the name "Yuki" ?? .. Just a pet type name, or does that mean anything. It's like a typical Japanese first name, actually!

Still concerned about the girls though ...

Great news from Delhi!

Boys SF:
Yuki Bhambri (IND) d. (7) Cheng-Peng Hsieh (TPE), 62 62
(2) Tsung-Hua Yang (TPE) d. Abdulnour Bronou (SYR), 63 63

Girls SF:
(1) Albina Khabibulina (UZB) d. (3) Nicha Lertpitaksinchai (THA), 62 64
(2) Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (THA) d. Alexandra Kolesnichenko (UZB), 64 60

Yuki, Sameer and prerna lost with their respective foreign partners in the doubles QFs. So no Indian kids in the doubles semis...

What a show by the little boy Yuki! .. In the final with another smashing upset of a seed.

Sanaa and Ankita's parents have always told us to watch out for Yuki, and here he comes. To be beating all these players when he is still just 12 (!!) is utterly amazing. This guy has got to be carefully nurtured. Very exciting (a bit like Ramesh Krishnan was at this age)!!
