ITF Asian u14 zone1 tournaments (Delhi, Mar31/ Apr5)

Those are good teams. Generally all the names I had started having an eye on, are all there. Good job by the selection committee. I was actually surprised to see Rushmi Teltumbde, who is only 18th in the u14 Indian ranking, in the team .. I think she is betterthan her ranking shows.

A couple of 12 year old AP players ranked right at the top of the 14s have been left out ...

Yes, even I was wondering about gayatri krishnan. But Jay do you have any where abouts about our next 'SANIA' prerana Mythry. I haven't seen much of her recently.

Oh well, sandeep.. I give up .. That is the 3rd even in a row in the last three posts I saw .. Oh well, I tried. This stuff is so ingrained in us Indians I guess...

sandeep -- I have been very quiet about Prerna Mythri. I will have to wait and see in a few years. She looks like an awfully big girl for her age. Once again, it is sad that I have to go quiet on some players from AP who people murmur about .. I have no proof, and it is unfair, but what do we do? .. If she is of the right age, her results are rather impressive - though not at the Sania level or anything. Anyway, none of these girls have shown that Sania-like winning mentality though, based on the results.

Krish - it is Nandita Krishnan who is in the u14 range. Gayatri is older. Nandita is #9 in the u14 rankings, and generally has not had the kind of results that these other girls have had.

Jay any news about Supriya Mallaya, who had very good results last year and was playing really well in Under 14 category ... I m feeling surprised after not finding her name in the list.

Yuki and Mansingh are the youngest two players in the boys' draw. Yuki has upset a seed already, but faces a tough guy who has upset the second seed already.

There is also a "back-draw" which is used to position players in 32 slots by the end. They actually make a 32 player ranked list in the end. I am too lazy to type up the back draw results ..
