The good news is that Rohan has finally got his injury protected ranking of 475. I belive he may have the option of not using that rank, as he does not need it for this event. That is a big relief because, in case he does not pick up some 10-15 points in the next two weeks, he would have needed the injury ranking to enter a few foreign futures and get going.

Great to see that Rohan has his injury-protected ranking. He should use it for $15K+H Futures, and for Challengers overseas. I hope he doesn't waste it on the Colombo where he could even be seeded without his injury-protected ranking...

By the time the Chennai and Bangalore Futures are done, Karan could be among the seeds in Colombo!

Well, actually the ranks next monday 28th would be used for Colombo. So 4 pts from last week's semi will go in, but not the 4+ from this week. The Bangalore points will go in only the monday after Colombo.

Karan's point total has now gone from 13 to 21. Enough to move from 812 to right around 700 now. It will be a smoth move up from here I hope. Once these 4 weeks are done, he would hopefully be somewhere in the 500s at least.

Yes, I think he was too modest (in his interview with Kumar) in saying that his target is to get to the top-500. He will get there in a jiffy (in, like, 12 days from now possibly!). Given the way he is playing, top-300 by August seems a reasonable target.

Yes I agree Top 500 will he achieve very quickly, but then things go tougher ... But it would be great if he will be in 300+ in August.

[R1] MATHEW Jaco (IND) d. DE SILVA Rohan (SRI) : 6-2 6-4

The other first round draws involving Indians are:
[R1] MISHRA Shivang (IND) vs. GARCIA-RODRIGUEZ Jose-Manuel (ESP)
[R1] (3) KANNAN Vijay (IND) vs. SINGH Ashutosh (IND)
[R1] SUKUL Saurav (IND) vs. TRIJATI Sunu-Wahyu (INA)
[R1] SINGH Navdeep (IND) vs. (6) MAYER-TISCHER Peter (GER)

[R1] KANNAN Kamala (IND) vs. KIM Cheong-Eui (KOR)
[R1] GOUTHAM Arjun (IND) vs. (2) GRUBER Konstantin (AUT)

My match of the round is

Will Bofors pull it out?

Bopanna vs Fass should be an exciting match. I am also expecting a tough battle between Kannan and Ashutosh Singh.

Poor Ravishankar keeps losing three setters, and did so in doubles too :(

You know who really should be playing these 10K's?? SKS....he really struggled in the Indian Futures.

If Rohan is seeded, I presume he is using his injury-protected ranking. I wish he hadn't "wasted" it on a $10K event. (Btw, Sunil is likely to be playing a $15K in Kashi, Uzbekistan).

The Sri Lanka newspapers seem even more cricket-obsessed than our own. Tough to find any coverage of this event...
