The field is quite decent though. Guys like tai-Wei Liu, Kris Kwon and of course Aqeel can be tough.

Apparently lots of rain so far in Hyderabad... they'll try to get the qualifier matches in again on Tuesday.

Good to see Jacco Mathew (at long last) pull off a good win, 76 62 over Mustafa; it's sad to see the latter's singles steadily sliding -- which is bound to constrain his otherwise-promising prospects in doubles. Humdinger between Vijay and Asutosh (11-9 in 3rd set tie-breaker won by Kannan) not a real surprise, given their respective recent trajectories. Good to see Vishal Punna regain some form, and Ravishankar sustain his. Looks like Arindam Datta (..not gvhvhg :) ???) could not capitalise on what seems to have been a wildcard, losing cheaply to Ajay.

...and too bad that Rupesh couldn't win his R1 match, so no points for him after his patient efforts over the last few days to qualify in.

Pretty damn good results so far by Indians. Sanam Singh's 61 61 win over Jacco Mathew is pretty impressive, considering that Sanam is just a kid still.

But who can bell the cat who goes by the name of Aqeel Khan? --- I have rarely been so impressed with somebody's drive and consistency like I have been about Aqeel's show in the last 3 months. Racking up points like nobody's business!

WoW!! Aqeel Khan has really done himself proud!! He is undoubtedly playing the best tennis of his life! Im not too sure how many points he will get for his 3 victories and 1 runners up spot during the Satellites....but I think he will have had enough to get into the top 350 or thereabouts!
And that from a player who would have been credited with playing just 2 tournaments (since the entire Satellite circuit is taken as one tournie!)
Man he sure has been going great guns!
And proved it even further with a 6-0 6-0 thumping of Vikas Punna.
Its great to see him finally get the chance to compete at the international level...and the great thing is that he is not only competing....but winning it all!
If he keeps getting the chances to play on the circuit....at his rate he'd be challenging Aisam for the top spot in Pakistani tennis pretty soon!
I hope he can win this future and hopefully continue playing the circuit!

Singles (quarterfinals):

Chris Kwon (USA) bt Sanam Singh 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-3
Tai Wei Liu (Tpe) bt Vinod Sridhar 6-2, 6-2
Ajay Ramaswami bt Vishal Punna 6-4, 6-2
Aqeel Khan (Pak) bt Vijay Kannan 6-3, 7-6(5).

Doubles (semifinals):

Mustafa Ghouse/Ajay Ramaswami bt Ashutosh Singh/Gurmehar Singh 6-2, 6-4
Chris Kwon/Tai-Wai Liu bt Jaco Mathew/Vinod Sridhar 6-0, 6-3

So, only Ajay left, out of 5 Indians in the QFs .. But, what a great match by Sanam Singh against somebody as good as Chris Kwon!

Yes Sanam Singh showing tremendous improvement .. his confidence must be high after this outing ... now he should develop and get properly nurture from proper people ... Ajay is playing consistent tennis in this tournament ... Reaching doubles final and Singles SF ... hopefully he will keep winning more and more matches ... atlast someone give some trouble to Aqeel ... Match was close one ... but Aqeel's confidence booming these days ... so he played big points better than his opponent ... and in winning that matter most.
