Kashyap won his first round while both Gurusai Dutt and Aditi Mutkakar lost their matches at the Chinese Taipei open!

Kashyap bt Chi Yuan Lu 21-16, 14-21, 21-14
Gurusaidutt l Yung Lun Chan 20-22, 19-21
Aditi Mutkakar l Seung Hee Bae 17-21, 19-21

Kashyap will next play Sony Dwi Kuncoro. Well, looks like his effort will end here. Sony is an amazing player, way too tough for Kashyap to beat.

Kashyap lost 17-21, 15-21 to Sony Dwi Kuncoro. 17 and 15 is not too bad, little improvement should help him match Kuncoro! With this loss, Indian challenge ends at the Taipei open.

The draw for the World Championships starting on August 23rd is out. Here's the link for the Women's draw.

saina is ranked 2nd and has a bye in the 1st round. Till the 4th round (QFs), i think she should coast through. From the QFs onwards, as one would expect, she could potentially face three 'Wangs' on the trot if she went all the way. Sounds a tough ask, let's hope she finds her way through the 'Wangs' with a bang. ;)

Sovin Birla is participating in the California international junior badminton championships which will start from tomorrow. He is the lone Indian participation there. He seems to be a young player who recently moved to USA, as he is playing in the tournaments only in the USA with Indian flag.

He is participating in the U-13 Boy's singles, U-13 Boy's doubles and U-13 mixed doubles. His singles match is scheduled for tomorrow (13th) against Steven Yang of USA.

surprised to notice no updates here as the world championships in France have started today.

Results are as follows:
DIJU V [9] [IND] Jwala GUTTA [IND] bt [ENG] Chris ADCOCK [ENG] Gabrielle WHITE 21-6 14-21 21-8
Rupesh KUMAR [15] [IND] Sanave THOMAS [IND] bt [NGR] Ola FAGBEMI [NGR] Jinkan IFRAIMU 21-18 21-10
Eriko HIROSE [10] [JPN] bt [IND] Aditi MUTATKAR 21-12 21-16
Tanongsak SAENSOMBOONSUK [THA] bt [IND] KASHYAP P 14-21 21-14 21-16

In summary, wins in doubles and losses in singles. Aditi's loss was more or less predictable. However, Kashyap's loss comes as a a bit of a disappointment as he is in good form lately, even though he and his opponent are similarly ranked (26th and 29th, respectively).

Top seed Yihan Wang lost today, huge upset. It should make Saina's path to the title even more easier. Yihan Wang was a junior world champion (bt Saina in the finals)
