Rupesh has preferred to play on clay at two $15K futures in Iran week after next. ( along with host of other Indians such as Ranjit, Rohan , Karan etc.) . Perhaps, staying & playing in places like Iran is much more econimcal then playing in U.K.

Also Steve mentioned that his passport was expiring so he needed to visit India for that.

Hi Guys

Rupesh had a dissapponiting end to his time in France as he picked up a small ankle injury just before playing the 2 Futures there which did not help his level in singles. his doubles pairing with Ashwin was a great success and they hope to do it again. Rupesh could not go over to England as his visa for that region is up. He will play Iran the next 2 weeks before heading off to Thailand for 3 weeks.
We are going to look at the calendar closely over the next 2 weeks as they release the new schedule. One options is to go to Australia for 9 15k Futures over 14 weeks. A good option but might turn out to be expensive, hopfully the calendar will give some good options in Asia and possibly Africa again.

Thanks for the update, Steve, and all the best to Rupesh (and you) in Iran, Thailand and (hopefully) Australia. That is a good schedule. Please let me know if you are flying through Singapore on the way to Thailand: I would love to organize a little clinic or some other event featuring Rupesh in Singapore (or just have him meet members of the India Club here and get/give some inspiration).
By the way, he might want to consider setting aside some special time to obtain his UK visa (perhaps during the off-season in winter) -- citing his professional record of travel to other tennis destinations. It took me 11 calendar days to obtain a UK visit last month. The UK requires a separate visa to the Schengen one (that can get him to Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, etc.) -- and Ireland is yet another separate one. Those two visas could be useful if he is to play some more tournaments on grass next year.

Thanks, Steve for update on Rupesh's schedule. I hope there will some more tournaments in Asia / Africa in later part of the year for Rupesh to take advantage to improve his ranking.

It is quite surprising that AITA has taken all the international tournaments for the rest of the year off it's calender. Is it because of commenwealth games ? In that case I expected more intense competition at home for our players rather then nothing at all. In fact on womens side there is not a single tournament ( not even $10K events) held since the begining of the year & there is nothing on calender for rest of the year . That is shocking. Anyone knows the ratinonale behind this ?

Sameer bhai,

I think we have to see someone replacing the gr8 Anil khanna who's now enjoying like the one who ruled ipl.

No single tour in a calendar year shows the lack of interest by the officials on commiting.

Not at all a gud sign for Indian tennis . lets see gud things happen soon.
Btw TNTA is showing some decent progress by sending sriram to germany i suppose.

Hi All,

I wanted to give you an update on Rupesh's schedule for the fall. He is committed to playing the 3 10k events in Africa starting September 6th in Burundi. He will then travel back to the US for a string of 5 futures 2 x 15k and 3 x 10 k starting in Austin, TX. He will missed the last futures to travel to the Dominician Republic to end the year with 3 x 10 k events.
We are hoping to reach the goal of having Rupesh's ranking in the 300's by the end of the year so that he can start to make the transistion to the challenger level. With a ranking in the 300's we are hoping he can sneak into some 25k or 35k events or be seeded in qualies for the 50k events.

We would love any help with accomodation for the following events in the US.

October 11 Austin, TX
October 18 Mansfield, TX
October 25 Birmingham, AL
November 1 Niceville, FL

Thanks
Steve

Rupesh will be playing Burundi futures from sep 6.Last yr he had a great outing ,so needs to defend a lot.

Also it seems he won't make use of those 2 thai challengers offering hospitality.

Thanks, Steve on update on Rupesh's schedule. Rupesh started off the year really well in the Indian futures but hasn't been able to do as well in the futures abroad. Now, he has a lot of points to defend for the rest of the year.

Hopefully, we will have someone come forward from Sports India to host him in the futures in US that you mentioned.

Hey Guys

Points are points and are going to have to be defended every year no matter what your level. If you go out there do your best and concentrate on improving then your ranking will take care of itself.
Rupesh is currently at a career high as of Monday August 23rd. He will defend his current points and hopefully add to his total. He has 35 points to defend from last year but he is going to be playing 11 events from now until the end of the year to do that.

Rupesh has also be struggling with an ear infection (approx 5 weeks) that has been causing some real discomfort, we recently found that he has a small hole in his ear drum which has been effecting his balance and causing hime pain while sleeping. He is on medication currently and all will be well.

Unfortunately, I don't know if we have any fans from sports-india in those 4 places in TX and FL to help find some accommodation. May be Austin? Let me look around. Jay

Isn't there a list of people willing to host players that was compiled sometime back on this forum? I think Ajay lives in Austin.

I can check with some of my friends in Austin. Will let you know.

ps: No, I don't live in Austin. I live in College Station, which is more than 100 miles away from Austin.
