Remarkable to see the amount of success Leander continues to have in World Team Tennis. Congrats to him. And thank rajorshi, for the link to that nice interview.

All good things come to an end. Time for Lee and Hesh to stop this series of first round exits by retiring.

I think it is premature to call for their retirement. They are still the 5th ranked pair in the world and the second ranked among same country pairs. So they are entitled to continue till the Olympics if they choose to do so.

Also, some of their recent losses have been due their inconsistent schedule rather than purely bad play per se so I would reserve judgment on the current level of play until we see how they do at the US Open.

As long as they have the ranking to play, they should continue playing. When they do not have the skills/fitness to play anymore and they keep losing in the first round, their rankings will go down and they will not get entries. Until then, they are better than most of the rest and thus should keep on playing.

Leander Paes is in the main draw of the Apia International Sydney ATP tournament. He is partnering Radek Stepanek there and are unseeded. Their first round opponent is Fognini/Tursunov. If they over come this, their second round potential opponents are Bryan Brothers!

Congrats to Lee, who lifted the Chennai title for the 6th time with his 48th tour-level doubles trophy and great start of season 2012 ... :notworthy:

Congratulations to Leander for yet another doubles title at Chennai :notworthy: . This report suggests he was carrying a tired Tipsarevic for most of the match:

I'm surprised that Leander-Stepanek are unseeded at Sydney...I suppose that means Radek's singles and doubles rankings have both fallen off quite a bit.

Stepanek is only #99 in doubles although he is #31 in singles. Only the doubles ranking counts towards the seedings although he can use his singles ranking to enter the draws.

His results last year were pretty good whenever he did play doubles with multiple partners although he did not seem to pursue it seriously as he conceded some walkovers and also lost some matches seemingly to easier opponents after good early wins. Perhaps, he will focus more on doubles now that he is 33 years old and in that case he and LP could be a very good pair.

Yeah, as long as they can enter any doubles events, the seedings really don't matter. But Lee should be playing with Hesh, and if not, with Bops. Jay

But, with no seeding they can run into someone like Bryans in the first round. Perhaps, they need few matches under belt before they start beating top pairs like those.

Jay, I didn't get you. Why should Lee be playing with Hesh and Bops?

I think it's blessing in disguise that they are unseeded. They get to meet teams like bryans in 2nd set rite away. It's good they meet them now then meeting them in Australian open. At least, after end of this tournament, they would know how they stand and what all they have to do to be successful in Australian open.
