Somi is playing some great tennis. Obviously he belongs to the top 100 club. Its just a matter of time that he breaks into it, officially. All the best.

It is a tough draw, he faces Dimitry Tursunov in the next round.

I don't like the fact that he is likely to face Tursunov in Q2 :(. Anyway, first things first and he got to take care of this Chinese dude. I will try to drive up to LA and cheer him up :).

Oh, Jay...where are thou? I hope to see you at UCLA tomorrow.

Incidently, Del Petro has already pulled out from the US open main draw. So, Somi is now 4 out.

Somdev d. Gong 6-0, 6-4.

He will play Tursunov in Q2. Tursunov beat Michael Yani in 3 sets.

He can easily beat Tursanov because the game he has is going to be good enough to get past Tursanov and will frustrate him provided he don't use that serve and volley tactics that he used in New Port

Somdev Dev Varman ...

Tursunov just coming back from injury and hasn't won too many matches. His game will be rusty and confidence low. A good opportunity for Somi.

It's almost impossible to beat Tursunov. Tursunov is a hard hitting guy with powerful serve. Somdev could have gone for a challenger this week.

It's almost impossible to beat Tursunov. Tursunov is a hard hitting guy with powerful serve.

This is called "analysis from a fetal position" in sports parlance. "Mommy, save me! He serves powerfully and hits hard. I would as well just die than see him across the court. So will Somdev too - after all he is a weak Indian like me".

80% of players in the top-500 hit harder and serve more powerfully than Somdev. One would think that Buji would hardly win a match, the way Saniapower projects his fears on to Buji.
