Both weeks' Futures are $15K tournaments on hard courts. I thought Roehampton (which one passes regularly on the way to the courts at Wimbledon) would be on grass, but I presume they are like the South Club (Calcutta), where numerous hard courts have been added to complement the presence of the traditional grass courts that make the club famous.

Good luck to Yuki, Karan, Vishnu and Divij.

They didn't even get the qualifying event going on the weekend! In singles qualifying:

[Q1] Divij Sharan (IND, 1258) vs. Lewis Burton (GBR, UNR)

Burton is an 18 year old currently ranked #223 in the junior world rankings.

It is nice that there are 4 Indians playing in two $15K Futures in England, with two of them already somewhat used to the conditions after two weeks of $10K Futures. Nice, also, to see Divij win a couple of qualifying matches.

Good to see Divij qualifying in, although he has a tough R1 match. Good luck to all 4 Indians!

Dissapointing loss by Karan but a nice win for Vishnu. Good to see Yuki get back on the winning track.

Vishnu keeps up the good work with a consitent performance
karan , is in a downward spiral , after nearly a year on the comeback trail he is not only langushing in the 450+ range but losing tamely without any fight to players he is expected to win.

To talk of Karan being in a "downward spiral" is premature, to say the least. He is barely 9 months into his comeback from a debilitating injury that required surgery, and kept him off the tennis court for more than two years. His comeback began only last October, and he had to use his injury-protected ranking even to get into the lowest-level Futures. During the past few months, he has won a Futures title in India, made two other Futures finals (losing to Rik DeVoest in two close sets in one of them) and most recently (last month) made the QF of a Futures in Malaysia.
He shouldn't have lost this R1 match, but I don't think it is any signal of a downward spiral...Karan hasn't quite dominated all the Indian players (other than RB, PA, SDV) as he used to before his injury, but only Rupesh Roy is clearly ahead of him and perhaps Vishnu. Karan regularly beat Rohan Gajjar in the Futures earlier this year, for instance, and also beat Yuki Bhambri (something that no Indian player other than SDV is normally expected to do). Karan (despite having won a Futures title on clay in Morocco once IIRC) has usually struggled a bit outside India. I hope he fixes that problem soon -- and playing alongside three other Indian friends is a great way to start.

I agree with PKB .In fact real come back for him started from Egypt i.e.Feb this year. Between oct and jan he just played one tournament at a time, which obviously was testing himself. Egypt was the first full circuit of three tournaments he played. One thing is sure he is going to improve his ranking consistently, till March next year as he has hardly any thing to defend.

One news item is perhaps missed on the forum. According to one player, Karan had posted on his face book that he played 2nd malayasia tournament with bad throat and 102 temp running. On his way back at chennai airport he was detained for suspected swine flue and had to be hospitalized , in chennai. He was discharged next day as the tests were fortunately negative. This was the reason he withdrew from Iran where he had entered.

That must have affected his program. Any way I am sure he will bounce back.
