Good to see these two playing on grass in England, but sad that the Manchester Challenger (which at one time was a full tournament akin to Nottingham ATP or Queen's) is now a mere 10K Futures. Both Divij and Vishnu are natural grass-courters, so I hope they do very well this week. Of course, since two of them are playing the same tournament, we should have started a tournament thread for this event...

The the rest of this futures circuit is Ilkley and Frinton; both grass tournaments.

Agree with you Pk about the fantastic challenger being downgraded. It's a travesty. Shows poor management by the LTA. First Surbiton and now Manchester - great challengers are dying and so is is the future of British tennis. The recession is really hiting the challenger circuit hard.

Mind you, 4 Brits have made the semis so not all doom and gloom.

Yes, already grass tournaments r 5/6 weeks affair and LTA failed to continue with challengers.

Anyway our pair in the final after very topsy-turvy match, they won in super tie-break ... In the final they r acing Ashwin Kumar and his Irish partner.

Congrats to Divij and Vishnu for making the doubles final -- and also for making the singles QFs. They must persevere and will hopefully dominate the second and third Futures in singles too.

With the Brits abandoning grass Challengers, it is time for India to step up to the plate. Who will tell the AITA??

good win in doubles . But I would have loved to see VV doing better in singles. Unfortunately he lost a very close match. May be next week will be better. We are sort of masters in doubles - at all levels.

Congrats for winning doubles title ... This also give more match practice on the grass for them which will help them in singles for next 2 weeks.

Divij and Vishnu are a very good doubles pair and have been playing together for a while now. Congratulations to both of them on their title. I hope this result spurs them to do better (in singles) in the next two futures.
