So, bridge player Vaidya was caught doping. Then, his suspension was set aside when he said it was in hypertension medicine. Who knows what is happening.

I think there are stimulants which can help your mental performance (at least in the short term).

India climbs to No. 2 behind Russia in 2020 anti-doing rule violations (ADRVs). No surprise there.

At least the Russians dope and dominate. So did the East Germans and Chinese at one time. We must the only country that dopes at a high level and still barely wins anything at a worldwide level.

I think the difference is that they had a doping program and they had a sports program. We have neither. Our doping is ad hoc individual effort or done by single coaches. Anyway, the main factor is their sports programs. We do not have those. They also recruit early and try everyone to see who has talent. We do not do that either. Only doping will not help much.

There is lot of incentives to doping. Is there a rule that they will loose public sector /govt jobs if caught doping ? Id not, that may potentially reduce the doping.

Also any doping violation should result in govt provided awards being returned (from past one year before doping violations.

Exactly, Kumar. The reward for Indian dopers is free trips, lots of training money, and senior government jobs. Who cares about a piddly medal.

We need to implement such things if we are serious about reducing doping.

That is another great suggestion from you. Loss of a job that one got due to sports achievements should be the punishment for doping. That will put an end to this. It will be difficult, because court challenges will come, and it will be difficult to prove things without any doubts (which is not the standard in doping convictions by the sports bodies). But even the worry of having to go through court challenges and being suspended from the job would be enough of a deterrent.

Actually, proving that things were in your blood is easy and should be enforceable in court. Or you can try to claw back all awards and funding. Or a significant fine. All of these can give tooth.
