Austria barely beat HK so does that mean we qualify. The other 2 results you mentioned did not happen.

We needed the women to get the draw the men have.

The men lost to #5, #19 and beat #33 and #35 in the group stages and barely beat #29 to reach the last 16. And their reward is the #9 team in the last 16.

The women unfortunately played #1, and beat #16 and #30 in the group stages and comfortably beat #24 in the playoffs; and their reward is the #4 team in the last 16.

Women have a decent chance to qualify.

Need Croatia, Portugal and Sweden not to create upsets against Germany, France and Japan. 1 of them creating upsets would be OK for us bit not 2.

Of course that is assuming we lost to Taiwan. If we beat them of course we go thru but that is quite tough.

Both Sreeja and Ayhika lost their matches and we are down 1-2.

Croatia, Portugal and Sweden have all lost though. So, pretty good chance for us to get a ranking quota whatever happens today.

We lost 1-3 against Chinese Taipei. South Korea,Taiwan, Hongkong, Japan and Romania are thru to Paris olympics which adds to 7 already qualified (France, China, Australia,Germany,US,Brazil and Egypt).

That will leave 4 spots thru world rankings.

Portugal, Slovakia and Singapore have lost early and their rankings will go below India's and we have most likely qualified thru ranking quota.

Waiting for confirmation.

Those losses to a completely dominant #1 (by 2-3) and #4 (by 1-3 in competitive matches) by the women were quite impressive. Based on these results, India played like a top 8 team, and the team is mostly young and on the rise. Hope they make it in to the Olympics.

The men looked old and not very competitive with the good teams, so are possibly over-ranked currently. If they make it to the Olympics, they will be going for the experience, so hopefully we can send some of our younger players if we have any younger promising players.

We are probably around the 10-12 spot in the women but we have to keep in mind that the Olympics team event has 1 doubles + 4 singles so with the Mukherjees, we will be slightly stronger. I am not sure we can send Manika, Sreeja and both Mukherjees (assuming we qualify).

Indian media is claiming we have qualified in both

It is confirmed now that both the Indian teams- men and women have qualified to Paris Olympics thru ranking route- Mens team is now ranked 15th and womens team 13th.

This is official confirmation from ITTF-
