Anyone knows where the olympics qualifiers (for mixed doubles) are being played ?

Manika/Sathiyan will be vying for a mixed doubles spot through this event, as their chances of qualifying through the rankings looks bleak to say the least.

They'll be played in Havirov, Czech Republic from 11th April.

In the World Mixed Doubles Table Tennis Olympic Qualification tournament being played at Havirov from today, Sathiyan/Manika (8th Seed) are through to the QFs having defeated the Greek pairing of Georgios Stamatouros & Malamatenia Papadimitriou in straight sets (4-0)

Score:- 11-8 11-9 11-8 11-6

We next face the PRK pair of Ri Jong Sik & Kim Kum Yong (Who defeated a Slovakian pair 4-1) in the QF to be played around 4:30 pm IST.

A total of 4 slots are on offer for Paris'24 from here.

The tournament has 26 pairs with the top-6 pairs receiving a bye into R16. The teams are divided into two knockout brackets (KO1 & KO2) based on their seedings. The winners of both the knockout brackets, to be played today (11th Apr'24) will secure direct quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

On Day 2 (12th Apr'24), the remaining 24 pairs will compete again for the remaining two slots. They will be seeded on the basis of the first day’s performance and then divided into two knockout brackets again.

The two bracket winners on the second day will obtain the remaining two Olympic quotas.

Live streaming is available on the Olympics Channel:-

A rather tame loss (1-4) for Manika/Sathiyan in QF of KO1 to the PRK pair... Scoreline read:- 7-11 10-12 11-9 6-11 6-11

Hoping for better luck tomorrow but too many mistakes & extremely inconsistent play in the QF, the better team won!

The North Korean pair went on to win KO1 & secure their place at Paris’24.

We start our campaign from QF stage on Day 2 (Bye in R16) & need to win KO3 (3 matches) to secure our place at the Olympics.

Let’s wish all the luck to Sathiyan/Manika for today :goodluck:

Sathiyan and Manika lost in QF itself today against a Malyasian pair 1-4. Just no fight. :-(

We are not really going to make it in TT. If some team pulls off a few upsets, I will be happy. Low expectations.

We need to find a new pair. Things are just not clicking for Manika/Sathiyan.

Sreeja is now new India #1 at #38 , 1 spot ahead of Manika who is at #39.

That makes selection of our womens team even more difficult, we will have to see if Manika along with one of the Mukherjees form a good pair. Than, we can have both Manika and Sreeja for singles and Manika with either Ayhika or Sutirtha in doubles.
