I'm assuming that we can send only one wrestler per weight category. Of course, if Bajrang is still good at the 65kg, then Ravi moving up makes less sense.

In US professional sport, it is quite common for collegiate athletes to pack on 4-5 KG of muscle when they move to the pros in a relatively short time and still retain their explosiveness. So it can be done but will require some serious weight training + nutrition management which I'm not sure that our wrestlers are able to commit to.

I don't think its possible for any one of them to change weight category....They will face each other and one of them will go!! The person going to olympics in this weight category will surely be high on confidence (after beating other one), and will be a serious medal contender!!!!

Really? Have you seen the musculature of the average Indian athlete in any sport? Or for that matter the average musculature of an Indian on the street?

Do you know difference between weightlifting and bodybuilding? A hypertrophied muscle (as in bodybuilding) is not a indicative of strength. That's why you will see many vedios in YouTube where a thin looking guy easily defeating bodybuilder in arm- wrestling!!!!

Who brought up the gene theory? That is a theory of the intellectually lazy. It does seem to have some credence in your mind.

What I am focused on is completely cultural and economic. Nutrition, weight training and exercise habits, emphasis on physical development (versus focus on academics) etc. do vary from one quite substantially culture to another and is also substantially impacted by economics. There is a reason why India is basically New Zealand (a country of 4 MM people) as a sports power.

NEW DELHI: The top Indian wrestlers are back at Delhi's Jantar Mantar demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Ace India wrestler Sakshi Malik broke down while interacting with the media as wrestlers protest at Jantar Mantar.

Malik, as reported by ANI, said that seven women wrestlers, including a minor, had lodged a complaint with Connaught Place police station two days ago. But the police failed to register an FIR.

"We want the investigation to happen fast...We are being framed as liars which we cannot bear. We are waiting for two and a half months now but no one is listening. People are saying we are spent force that is why we are protesting. We just won a medal at CWG 2022," Sakshi Malik told ANI at Jantar Mantar.

The Sports Ministry on Monday stalled the scheduled May 7 elections of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and asked the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to constitute an ad-hoc committee to conduct the polls within 45 days of its formation and also manage the sports body. The ministry's decision came after the country's top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, resumed their sit-in protest here on Sunday and demanded the public disclosure of the findings of the oversight panel that investigated the sexual harassment allegations against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Indian Olympic Association chief PT Usha has strongly criticised the public protest by wrestlers over alleged sexual harassment by Wrestling Federation India boss Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. Mr Singh, a BJP MP, has denied the allegations and indicated he will fight fiercely to prove he is innocent.
Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia have been protesting against Mr Singh and demanding the government to take action on their complaint. They have also written to Ms Usha to act on the matter urgently.

Ms Usha, however, criticised the wrestlers for not waiting for the report of a committee that is looking into their allegations to come out before deciding to sit on a public protest in Delhi. She said the protest "amounts to indiscipline".

"The players should not have protested on the streets. They should have at least waited for the report of the committee. What they have done is not good for the game and the country. It is a negative approach," Ms Usha said.
