The last I heard the Brij Bhusan dude had resigned. and has offered to hang himself if the case is proved. The committee is leaking info says Vinesh Phogat. Anything else in the unfortunate soap opera?

This is the latest on that saga-

Vinesh Phogat alleges Brij Bhushan Singh still runs the show at WFI, considers moving to court

I wonder how much time those protesting can hold on ? Already Asian championships is gone for them. There is Asiad and world championships to come in August-September. If the issue is not resolved till then what will they do ? Or is the plan of Brij Bhushan and his cronies is to wear down them by delaying the decision ?

"Wearing them down" must be the plan. That is what politicians would normally do.

In 55kg Greco-Roman, Rupin bagged🥈after losing to Dadmarz🇮🇷 1-3 in Final.

In 63kg GR, Neeraj won🥉beating 2020 Asian🥈Song🇰🇷 in BMM.

In 87kg GR, Sunil Kumar won🥉beating 2018 Asian 🥈Masato🇯🇵 4-1
In Womens wrestling, we ended up with 2 silver (Antim and Nisha) and 5 bronze medals.

6 of our 10 wrestlers lost against Japanese wrestlers who are the strongest in the world, The only Indian to win against a Japanese was 18 year old Priya Malik who won bronze in 76 kgs- heaviest weight category where we usually do not do well. Priya is a 2 times cadet world champion and is someone to watch out for in future. We had a decent win ratio against Chinese wrestlers though who are next best to Japanese in Asia. Antim, Anshu ,Sonam and Nisha all won against Chinese wrestlers to win medals here although 2-3 others lost against Chinese.

There will be 6 instead of 10 weight categories in Asiad like Olympics and we had won 2 medals last time ( 1 gold by Vinesh and 1 bronze). This time, I think we should improve on overall tally and pick up 3-4 medals but not sure if gold will come. Vinesh is out and not sure if she will come back and others though good lose to Japanese wrestlers.

To round off the Asian championships, we ended up with 1 gold and 2 bronze medals in Mens freestyle. In 57 kgs, under 23 world champion Aman Sherawat continued the tradition of Indian winning gold in this lowest weight category as Ravi Kumar had won 3 straight titles in last 3 Asian championships. So. we will have strong competition in this weight category for Asiad and for Paris and either of them would be a contender for a medal.

But, otherwise it was a disappointing fare in mens freestyle.

Sexual harassment allegations against WFI chief could not be proved: Sources

"The wrestlers could not prove their sexual harassment allegations. During the probe, it was alleged that one female physio (name withheld) was asked by Brij Bhushan to give him massage to treat his back pain last year in Bulgaria during a competition. However, during the hearing, the same physio denied any such incident," a source told PTI on Thursday.
"Instead, she revealed that all Brij Bhushan wanted was a painkiller for headache and when she offered one, and was accompanied by a female coach at that time, the WFI boss even refused to take tablet 'disprin'.
"It was male coach Anil who had actually helped Brij Bhushan."
WFI officials, however, did not make any official comment when approached.

Something seems fishy with players. They are neither competing nor training. Even, they are not able to prove anything in front of committee and started bashing committee before it released reports!!!

I wonder if one of them could move up a category with some sustained weight training.

I do not know the exact details. They certainly can, Arjun. But, there are more good players than there are categories, especially since the Olympics and I think the Asian Games too has fewer categories because of course more medals are needed in white people's sports such as swimming but not in wrestling where actually people from all over the world have a chance to win. On topic, this is not a bad problem. We should have several selection bouts where we pit person against person and choose the best. The traditional reverence for the older player and the boss should be chucked aside. The reverence shown to Shushil Kumar, etc. by the youngsters not even fighting him should not be enforced. After all, Arjun fought against Karna and Bhisma ... :-)

With Ravi and Aman in same category, the medal in this weight group seems most probable!!!

Asians in general are better in lower weight categories except perhaps Iran.

As for one of Aman Sherawat and Ravi moving to higher weight category discussion, wrestlers in general cut weight by 2-3 kgs before big tournaments but following strict diet regime. So, I think natural weights of both Aman and Ravi would be around 60 kgs. In fact Ravi has fought in 61 kg category in some of the ranking series tournaments and done well. Unfortunately, 61 kg category is not there in olympics and Asian games. So, one of them has to move to higher weight category it would be 65 kgs. It would be tough for them to compete and win against those wrestlers whose natural weight is around 67-68 kgs.

And another problem is we have Bajrang in 65 kg who although embroiled in controversy currently had won a world championship bronze last year. So, he is still capable of doing well at that level if everything settles down.
