You are assuming that Indians remember with fondness the top to bottom corruption, family nepotism, socialist and non-productive economy, the non merit based reservation system etc of the old Congress era.

Don't worry Rahul Gandhi will sweep next election, then he will hang these thugs. And reverse all the damage done by Modi in last 10 years including Article 370removal , UCC, privatisation of industries and most important Economy!!!!
@Saffron, you just sealed my vote for the Saffron thugs in the next election inspite of all the things i detest about them.
UCC hasn't happened yet, but seems every one has already factored it in as DONE as we all know Megalomaniac needs something big to highlight his score card before elections.

The thing wrestlers are asking for now is Brij's arrest. So in a way they are asking Modi to play Judge, Jury and Executioner. That's too much to ask for, Modi instead of keeping mum on this matter could have said in "Monkey Baat"(typo pun intended), that he is pained to see what was happenng to wrestlers but that he was not in a position to take things to next level as it is Police job to investigate and indict the wrongful individuals and that he hopes Delhi police will do their job and conclude investigation soon.Such a small signal can be clear enough for the Delhi police to act upon.

One thing that i noticed hugely different in the US and India was the pride the institutions like Police carried in doing their job without being influenced by Money or Power. Things have largely improved in India from the 1990s, whch i noticed couple years back when i had a brush with Police department and Fire department when there was a small fire in our locality in which no one was injured but for some property damage, i was expecting that i may need to bribe a few people to lodge FIR and Fire report. But police were very cordial and issued FIR with in minutes and even though i had to wait for sometime at Fire service office, a department employee apologized for the delay conveying that his officer was out overseeing a mock drill and offered Chai and biscuits. Fire report was issued as soon as the officer was back to office.

So it all works fine for a commoner as long he is not fighting BIG people with Money and Power, but the moment you want justice when BIG guys are involved, there is no redemption!

Exactly. Modi only needed to do a Clinton and say "I feel your pain". Even that would have gone a long way.

Modi is very smart. He know as soon as he open his mouth the media will rip him apart by twisting his statement (whatever statement he give). The same way the media twisted the statement of PT Usha!!!

Wrestlers protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India's president Brij Bhushan Singh should wait for the investigation to be completed, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said on Wednesday, asking the grapplers to trust Delhi Police and Supreme Court of India. The Union Minister also said that while the investigation is being done, wrestlers should not do anything which harms the sport and its players.

Father of minor wrestler admits filing false sexual harassment allegations against WFI chief
The father of the minor wrestler admitted that they purposefully filed a false police complaint of sexual harassment against the WFI chief.

The origin of the father's supposed angst goes back to the 2022 Under-17 Asian Championship trials in Lucknow when the minor lost the final and missed out on selection to the Indian team. The father said he was enraged because his child's "one-year hard work had gone down the drain" because of that referee's decision in the final. "The match was against a Delhi wrestler.

The UWW and WFI rules were not followed (in the bout). I have no grudge against the Delhi wrestler. She is also like my daughter but the referee who was also from Delhi deliberately defeated my daughter," he said. Asked why he directed his anger towards Singh when the alleged bias was shown by the referee, he said, "Who had deputed the referee? It was the federation. And who is the head of the federation? So who I will be angry with?"

Hard to believe anything anyone says right now. Par for the course. As long as active politicians continue to be head of sports federations, such sordid sagas will continue.

I fail to understand how these federation heads are allowed when almost all charters explicitly prohibit government interference. I suppose they are not interfering???
