Dhiraj lost in the final in the shootoff last arrow. But, it does not matter. Both finalist get Paris Olympics quota.

So, we finally get our first archery quota for Paris.

So Dhiraj finished
6th in qualification round at Asian Games
4th in qualification round at the Asian Archery Championships
1st in the qualifiers without already qualified nations

But lost in a shoot off in
QFs of the Asian Games
QFs of the team event at the Asian Archery Championships
QFs of the mixed team event at these championships
Finals of the qualifiers

Even with the quota, I think it is fair to say that he is not winning any medals. He is cut from the same cloth as Deepika and Atanu.

Interesting take! I think he is regularly competing at the top level relatively recently, so perhaps doesn't have the confidence that he can win at the highest level yet. However, he may gain confidence from these performances, so it's worth keeping an eye on what he does next year.

He is not cut from the same cloth as Deepika and Atanu, he is a cut above both of them :p ...he shot 2 zeros in the same match with the Kazakh in the QF of Asian games while actually leading the match 4-2 at one stage. I read somewhere the officials had hard time pulling out his arrows from the frame outside rings.

This is a nice article about Dhiraj about he recovered from those big misses at Asiad-

Dhiraj Bommadevara bounces back from Asiad disappointment, and social media abuse, to win India’s first Archery quota for Paris Olympics

Will see how he performs on big stage next year. He is currently our most talented recurve archer. So, we can only hope from him.

Wow, sounds like he really needs a mental coach. Also, when he is so mentally fickle why is reading the filth on social media.

yes, not only mentally feeble, all athletes should desist from following what was said about them on social media. It will be in their own interest to stop hearing what people say and rather use that time to hear their inner self.

Gold medal matches of Archery National Championships took place at Ram ki Paidi at Ayodhya today. Solid idea to have more sports events in public spaces.

Dhiraj lost in a shootoff in the men's semifinals at the Nationals as well. This guy might be worse than Deepika Kumari.

First world cup of the year is currently ongoing at Shanghai.

As usual our compound archers are doing well. They have reached 3 finals- Mens team, Womens team and Mixed team and Jyoti Surekha Vennam and Priyansh have reached individual semi finals.

But, good news from recurve side is Deepika Kumar who is making a comeback after some break has reached individual semi final beating a Korean girl in the QF, she will meet another Korean girl in the SF. In mens individuals, Dhiraj did well in qualification finishing third but lost in the PQF against a Spanish archer. Dhiraj again shows that he is among 4-5 archers in qualifying in the world but is not able to match that level in dual matches.

Our mens recurve team has also reached final and will meet Korea in the final. Our womens recurve team lost in PQF.

4 golds and a silver for us in compound archery for us in Shanghai world Cup. Can we somehow get compound archery in Olympics?

Recurve men and Deepika Kumari have their matches tomorrow.
