In the updated rankings, Srikanth is climbed to his career-best WR #2 position and Prannoy is also climbed to his career-best WR #11 position.
Interestingly in women's singles, Sindhu is occupied #2 and Saina #11. :)

In men's doubles, Satwik-Chirag rise to #28 and in MXD, Pranaav-Sikki r on #16 and Satwik-Ashwini r on #85.

Our improvement in mens singles has been superb this year. 4 of our top 5 ranked mens singles player at the start of the year have had meteoric rise from their 2016 year end level - Srikanth - from 15 to 2, Prannoy - from 28 to 11, Sai Praneeth - from 37 to 16 and Sameer Verma - from 36 to 18. Only Ajay Jayaram has regressed from 19 to 22.

All 4 are quite young for mens singles - Prannoy and Praneeth are 25, Srikanth 24 and Sameer Verma 23. Hoping for all 4 to be in top 10 next year which is quite achievable.

1-1 in international tournaments. Not sure of their record in domestic tournaments. But, great for Saina to win this when Sindhu is so much ahead in world rankings. It seems she needed it more just like Prannoy against Srikanth.

Doubles titles went to Satwik-Ashwini in mixed doubles, Ashwini Sikki in mixed doubles and Manu Attri-Sumit Reddy in mens doubles.

Mens doubles finals went all the way to 26-24 in third game where young guns Satwik and Chirag were beaten.

Overall, it was amazing to see that they could gather all the top players for nationals. Never happens in tennis.

That surprises me. Isn't it odd that these two have only played 2 matches against each other so far? I knew that Sindhu had beaten Saina at least once, but did't know that there hasn't been too many matches between them. Anyway, it is a big win for Saina.

From this year, in a bid to attract top shuttlers, the Badminton Association of India has increased the total prize money of Senior National Badminton Championships to almost Rs 1 crore from Rs 10 lakh of previous years ... Country's all top shuttlers agreed to participate, for example, before this year Saina played nationals in 2010.
